I've a few of these knocking around. All seem to have different things in. So, wondered what they should contain?

Towing eye (female thread)
Towing eye (male thread)
wheel bolt brace
black handled screwdriver

What else?!

The towing eye you mention with a male thread is it a red bar?

If so this is an aid to help locate the wheel on the hub, screw it in and then offer the rim up, stops the bugger falling off while you try and reach for the bolts.... which you've just kicked under the car with your foot while lifting the wheel

Other things that should be in the kit are the ratchet and the 19mm socket.

The ratchet will have set solid so that it either doesn't ratch at all, or it ratches quite happily in both directions...

Seems each set I own has different kit! Nope, I've got one with what looks like a male towing eye - it screws into the female towing eye and is the same size, if a little bigger, with a loop on the end.

I've one with

-Red bar
-ratchet (which doesn't seem to move!)
-19mm socket
-flathead screwdriver
-towing eye

The other 3 I own, all differ slightly (and have bits missing!)

Sounds like you've got some odd tools to your set then, if the screwdriver is Fiat pull the shaft out of the handle and you should find a Philips on the other end.

It's not a tool but i always carry oil!

I've got 5 tool sets.

2 are complete with the tools you suggest.

2 others have the male tow bar thing rather than the hub guide, and my fifth set has the male tow bar, but is missing the ratchet.

So, 3 sets with the male tow bar instead of the hub guide. All the screwdrivers are the Fiat reversible shaft jobbies.

Interestingly my VIS has this male tow bar setup, wonder if it's a later change?

Ah, I think I know what the male tow bar is off, a genuine Zender rear lip needs an extension bar as it sticks out further then a standard bumper.

All cars I believe have been changed to a male tow bar piece on the car at some later date. Reason is it sometimes filled up with dirt, then the tow bar thingy didn't go in anymore or not completely. Resulting in some damaged cars if it broke at speeed.
