Take a pic of yer car and get someone to photoshop it, this will give you a good idea of whether or not you like it. Personally, I wouldn't use anything too dark - will just attract the wrong sort of attention, with idiots thinking "if it's tinted there must be something to hide", and then ending up with it getting broken into. That said, because the centre pillar, (with the badge), is black, having tints is bound to make the car look good.

Looks good! Just remember though that you can't have it that dark on the front. You can only have a reallt light tint on the front and stay legal. The police are really keen on this and you'll get a £30 fine every time they stop you. Loads of people around my way are having the front tints removed because of this. My boss has been stopped 5 times already and it's cost him £150 so far!!!!!

I've seen a lot of cars with the no tint on the front side windows, and black tint on the rears. Which looks wrong IMO. You're either best of having the light tint all round - which will look pretty dark anyway, or leave them all untinted.
Otherwise you'll be turning yer Coop into a Coupe-van.

They use a film but not sure how easy it is to remove, think it may need heating... A friend of mine had a mini with black all round and it looked good.... apart from the bit that started peeling but I guess that was a shabby job done by someone or the previous owner. He did say that it was a bit trick pulling out into traffic at night, his vision was quite restricted and he had to have the windows down a lot I was thinkin about the black for my coop, I think with the bonding on the windows any other tint may not look so good but could do with some pics to see how it looks - will you post some when you've had yours done webby?? Black would just finish off my car and match the black alloys... but I don't want it lookin like a van

Its a thin film, which you apply with soapy water to the windows, and then squeegy out all the air bubbles. Once it's dry the film stick well to the windows. But you can easily pull the film off afterwards, as long as you can find a corner to start with.
As a DIY job, you can do it. But the finish will be no where near as good as a professional company. It's just not possible to clear all bubbles from the film, DIY.
Just a gentle tint on a black car would look good. Or maybe even consider a mirror tint?

a good company will take as much glass out as possible, clean it chemically, then allpy the film and "bake" it on. think tipoboy (trick alfa paint/wolfrace alloys etc) had his done really well, circa £300 a few years back. Pentagon down london do a good service but it wil be 400-500 quid. get what you pay for. think this might also be security film too

Absolutetly.
You buy the film yourself, and squeegy it on, will probably cost around £40-£50. If you're ultra careful the finish will be at most passable, but they'll be bubbles in it no matter what you do.
You go to Pentagon, and pay £300-£400, the finish will be perfect, and just look like you've fitted darker windows.

Yes my Coupe has tints from Pentagon. Check out my web site www.tipo16v.co.uk and follow the Coupe link. Think they were 30% on sides and 50% on rear. Normal price I think was about 700 GBP but I got it at a slight discount as my car was stripped out anyway. The sides are security glass which has a Thatcham rating (Q I think), resists puncture from outside but can be pushed out in emergency. The film was too thick to do this on the curved rear window so it's regular tint not toughened. Car looks so different with it. Not sure how legal the front tints are over here (most cars/trucks have clear fronts and heavy tinted rears and back) but they were legal in UK. John
