Got a couple of questions about a boost gauge install <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
I've just had a look under the bonnet to find which pipe I should be T-ing the hose into. Using pistoles picture here I'm thinking that I should T it in on mine here in the pipe that is split at the end.

1st off, is this the correct pipe to T into? Also, I'm a bit alarmed by the split, what problem is this likely to cause me, and where can I get a replacement bit of pipe?

I'd get that pipe fixed, it might make you go lean when on boost.
You can also use the T pipe on the small hose going to your dump valve.

Balls, I'd better get it replaced sharpish then. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement from? Or even what it's called <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

It's just a piece of vacuum hose. 4mm inner diameter.

I used the small pipe that goes to the middle of the dump valve.

Dont panic, it wont make you go lean. Basically you wont be able to acheive full boost because of the leak and the FPR will compensate accordingly.

I'll try and get it fixed tomorrow if I can. Am I likely to be able to get the vacuum hose from any car parts shop?

Also, out of curiosity, on pistoles picture (link above), there seem to be 2 pipes T'd into the hose that's split in my car. I presume one is the gauge, what would the other one be?

Well, that's true. But I was stating the worst case scenario. Since teh vacuum does not reach the FPR it wont raise the fuel pressure over 3 bar.

Stu - get some 4mm fuel hose, it's a lot stronger than the normal vacuum stuff and it won't split as easily. You can get it in Halfords etc

Right, got it all fitted and had a little test run.

The gauge reads around 0.8 bar max in 3rd gear runs. I thought standard 20VT would be 1 bar? I T'd into the pipe running from inlet manifold to FPR

I did have to use a metre of 5mm tubing, as the 2 metres of 4mm that came with the gauge wasn't enough, would this have upset the reading at all, hence lower than expected?

No,

Your turbo has to pressurise a huge volume of air, inlet manifold, intercooler and all the ducting. Compressing the tiny volume of air in your 2m or so of 5mm boost hose will really not cause it any problems.

Its likely your actuator is slightly weaker than standard. Easily solved by junking the EBV and fitting another boost controller.

Post hijack <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

Looking at my, ahem, diagram, and try not to laugh at my technical drawing skills <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

clicky

1. the vacuum hose from where I've tapped in to the goal post pipe, is about 3 metres long. Will that not affect how the blitz thinks?

2. As you can see, with the Blitz unit's T-Piece I've stuck the hose from the engine bay in one end, and my old boost gauge in the other. Is that okay? has anyone else done this?

No, see post above. As long as there is no leak it will be fine. You could have 100 m of boost hose and it still wont be equivalent to the volume of air in the intercooler, large diameter ducting etc.

No air actually flows in the pipes so lengths, routes, bends, diameters etc have no affect on boost readings.

Your install is fine, but your drawing skills?... <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />
