Hi,
Yes, we are actually considering a 20VT again! It's been 5 or 6 years since the last one, but as you know I have stuck around here since. Beth likes Coupes too, and we are deciding between a Celica T sport (again!) and a 20VT. As I work for Toyota the sensible decision is to choose a Celica again, but something about the Coupe just keeps grabbing my attention. A big requirement is that it MUST be able to tow the Caterham, so am I right in thinking the 20Vt has a 1200kg braked limit? Also, does anyone have any pics of Coupes with towbars fitted? I realise that sticking a towbar on a Coupe goes against the grain, but I have no choice. Did Fiat ever produce an official towbar option?
p.s am i mad to be considering one again?
Thanks, Dave

Good question Dave. I would also like to know if the coupe will take a towbar.

p.s am i mad to be considering one again? Yes, but it's still worth it. I know the Celica is a decent steer, but it's just soooo lacking in character (and grunt) compared with the Coupe. IIRC, there's a detachable towbar option for the Coupe, so that you don't have to drive round with an ugly ball sticking out the back. To confirm, the handbook states specs for towing of 1200kg (braked) or 500kg(un-braked) with a maximum load on the ball joint of 80kg

Dave - dont you want to be spending your time tinkering with the Cateram rather than a coupe? I would also have thought that you would be better off with the 320D for towing as well....

Yes, we should never have sold the 330D, but that's another story The third car only needs to be used for winter fun, occasional towing duties and to take Beth to dancing and back once a week. Therefore I can live with the occasional bit of tinkering. This would be where the Celica scores high of course, my 190 was faultless if lacking in character. Just something we are think of, will be making a decision in the next week or so. Thanks Nigel, I will try to send them both a pm and see if they have photos.

Dave, do it Didn't realise you worked for Toyota. My other half has a T Sport, thrash happy she's become! Yes, I'm in sales, working for Platinum Bath Cheesy!

Dave, your old sprinty is sitting on my drive right now. It doesn't belong to me but my brother who bought it off Ben in Cardiff many moons ago. It has just received lots of TLC including total suspension and brake refresh, cambelt change etc.......
Enjoying Coop ownership, second time round . Also enjoying RWD action in a thundering V8 E90 M3.

Last year I bought the original tow bar + hitch from www.centrostileparts.com. The one on the photo from robcal. At that time it was the last they had in stock. The tow bar was not so expensive, but getting it installed by the garage was. E.g. the fuel tank has to come off first. The removable hitch works perfectly. Easy on and off. And looks good when not attached.

No, I don't. If I would, another coupe in the neighbourhood has the same issue as yours. Perhaps 2nd hand somewhere?

20vt sounds like a good plan to me Dave - are you ditching the Caravelle then?
