OK,
So I'm being a cheapskate and not replacing the Headunit at the moment ! (the mechanicals of the car are taking priority)..

But........lets say I've replaced the Clarion Stereo it came with (horrible thing IMHO!) with my nice (but a little old, no MP3 comptability) Pioneer DEH-P4300 R Stereo..

This Stereo does however feature a 'multi-changer' control..
Of course, as pointed out, it won't work with the Clarion CD Changer..

But let's say for instance I bought of eBay a cheap second hand Pioneer Multichanger.
Would it have to be completely re-wired in? e.g. a new wire would have to be routed from the Stereo to the boot ?

Or could some sort of dodgy trick worked out, whereby you could use the wire that's already it in with the new changer? Like replacing the connectors on it or something?

Probably more hassle than it's worth. Running a changer lead through the car is pretty easy, whip off the plastic sill and then route it under them, under the carpet and through into the boot. Shouldn't take you more than half an hour tops.

With Scooby on this. Does not take long and did not have to remove the sill just undid the runbber door surround and routed under the carpet.
