So, I've got my lovely new coop (which I will take photos of in the near future, I promise) and with it comes a new job list, but I have some questions for the wise.

So, jobs - in roughly the order in which they bother me.

Air-con re-gas - do Kwikfit still do their £19.99 re-gas service? If so I might give it a try this week.

Passenger seat adjustment - it seems that if you move the seat forwards or backwards it doesn't lock in place, so it can be moved just be pushing on it. Actively heaving the adjustment lever back up seems to lock it OK, but I assume there's some sort of return mechanism which is busted. Is this likely to be a ball-ache to fix? Is the mechanism from cloth seats the same as the leather seat one, because it seems that cloth seats go for peanuts.

Air-bag warning light - already discussed in tech issues.

Alarm/central locking - there was no alarm dibber supplied with the car, so I assume that the alarm has died. Is it possible/easy to just transplant in an alarm unit from another car? I can't see any sign of people asking about alarm units in the breaking section, so are they all knackered, or is it just impossible to take a knackered one out and put a new one in.

Petrol cap clean up - I think I've still got all of the stuff from when I did my last one.

Damn good wash and polish - I think I can manage this, but if anybody wants to baby-sit my kids for a day while I get it done that would be great. Alternatively, does anybody know how long you can leave a small child locked in the boot before they (a) suffocate, (b) break something or (c) figure out how to use the ski-hatch?

OK, I've just read the alarm FAQ and I do have a red code card, which I'm assuming is the right one. Is there any way to test the alarm before I go spending money on a replacement fob?

Cloth seats are the same inside, so just swap over the cover.

Stan did a "How to" a little while back, its a simple enough job but can be a bit fiddly with the metal clips.
(I seem to remember that tie wraps can be your best friend.)

They pressure test before putting the new gas in. If they don't put any new gas in, they won't charge you.
