My brother ordered one of the above built by the factory to his spec. It'll have it's SVA done in a week or so, but he's had it out in the forecourt for a little blast. Full cage, dry sump - the works. Should be about 180bhp at the rear wheels when mapped next week, and weighs... well almost nothing. I can't wait to have a go. Big thumbs up to Jonny and Fishydave for helping him out with the spec etc... Here's a pic - I think it looks awesome too!

yes - it does have reverse, they all have to now for the SVA. I think it was around 14.5K using a second hand engine with low miles on it.

Didn't know that. I fancy a light weight bike engined rocket myself but was always wary of the reverse issue. Enjoy

nope - but you might be able to squish a turbo's Hayabusa lump in, or a N/A peripheral ported rotary. I think it might just be fast enough anyway.

He picked up the car from Cadwell park yesterday afternoon - straight out on track the first time he's driven it, with one of MK's race drivers in the passenger seat. apparently it's VERY quick indeed - minced an M3 CSL whilst he was still nowhere near pushing the car. A cable came off the linkage on the way home - which MK are fixing for him with no charge. I've not had a go yet, but I am really looking forward to when I do!

Thanks Suba - my first drive with a different way of changing gear on an unknown track was more fun than I thought considering how bad I was at first. MK's racedriver Danny took me for three laps first, and I was laughing out loud for most of them until i realised I should be thinking about apex speeds and gears.
The car shifts, its in a different league to my other drives - if i hadn't driven the 430 hp / 1370kg skyline for a few years i'd have been completely behind the car and probably unable to drive it. I wasn't expecting 174hp at the wheels to go that well, but I guess weight is everything. The track was fairly damp thoughout the day though, so I'm looking forward to taking it in the dry on the r888s.
A mate of mine has a clio 200 which was fun to push at 9 tenths on a nice road without needing a heart rate monitor - whereas this would be a bit different, and probably best left to track to avoid getting brown pants, unless it truly is a great road at 6am. The coupe club got any track events planned? wouldn't mind popping down once i get my extinguisher sorted, i'm fairly close to croft and blyton.
Tbird - reverse isn't an issue - i'm tempted to look at taking mine off to save weight as it's very easy to push the car instead. I can only imagine you needing it if you have a steep ramp up to a garage and need to reverse in, or to reverse onto a trailer without starting the engine (it has an electric motor for it).

Suba, great vids and great lines (apart from vid 2 - good job the sound from the driver was inaudible ). A real track novice I am.... best experience was in Fishy's machine at Curborough .. talk about on the edge in the wet. Bloody wonderful!! Next best experience was at Donny in JBT's car.... I'm sure I could still see his tyre marks on the grass in your first vid where he cut the corners

WOW thats lovely!! bet it must be a handful It's a bit edgy until you get used to how it behaves.....with no throttle on it goes all over the place. If in doubt just put on power and hold on. The quaife ATB diff is just awesome when it hooks up....far better than the open diff that used to be in the car.
