how about proving the job messed up your wages confused Get a letter off HR or Payroll or wherever confirming the shortfall in your pay.

I've got the same problem just now, thing is it was actually Admiral that didn't apply for the funds. My account was in credit by quite a lot (just been paid AND lots of overtime) but they said they were unable to take the monthly Direct Debit. I called my bank for an explanation and they said that no application for funds had been made. Admiral want me to get confirmation from the bank that no application was made and then they are willing to put me back on DD, otherwise payment in full.

I've left it that I will pay in full simply because it will be more hassle than it's worth asking my bank to prove no application was made then sending this on to Admiral (I only had 2 months payments left anyway). They should be able to check from their end and see they messed up. Oh well, been with em for 10 years but will go elsewhere after the current policy expires. Customer service? Admiral dont have a clue what that means!

Bells part of the same company (Admiral Group), give Admiral the quote Reference number and they'll match it no problem.

No, they'll charge a cancellation fee and start a new policy. I personally won't use em again though cos the service from them is shocking.

i'm surprised that you have all been successful getting insurance from Admiral in the first place!!

I had insurance with them for many years and when I bought the coupe they point blank refused to insure me!

I'm no spring chicken either so no excuse of young punk can't trust em! evil

I used to have the Coupe and a Citroen C3/Grande Punto on a group policy with them for 5 years. They were OK and cheap, under £400 a year for both cars.

They were a bit confused when I put a new engine in the coupe, wanting to consider it a mod, but one of their supervisors sorted that out.
I was also surprised to be told that a strut brace would make a car more atrtractive to thieves.

The coupe is now on an agreed value policy elsewhere, but the other one is still with Admiral.

I have the Monaro, the Coupe, the Rangie and MrsC's C2 all on a multi-car policy, never had any problems with them at all.

I have my cars withthem on a multi car policy too. Where exactly has their service been shocking. seems like all they wanted was paying. Bit harsh demanding payment in full for a 1st offence without any warnings but a lot of companies are a little inflexible with credit nowadays.

To be honest dude, the payment thing annoyed me because they agreed to set me up on Direct Debit and then messed it up by not applying for funds (not my error, I had more than enough in the account to cover it). My bank confirmed they did not apply for funds. They have, therefore, put me in a position where I now have to pay in full. Not a major issue as I only have a couple of months left however I’m not happy about the fact that they agree one payment method with me then force me to use another after an error on their part.
I also sent 3 emails to them, 2 of which went unanswered. I called them and couldn’t get any explanation out of them other than "we'll call you back". I've never had a call back. I've asked them to reply to my emails but this request has been ignored. That’s why I think their customer service is shocking.

Obviously, I’m not saying everyone with Admiral are that bad, every company has their incompetent employees. During my last call to them I spoke with a guy called Liam, top guy, couldn't apologise enough. He advised me to put my complaint in writing (which I did), he even provided the address to send the letter to.

My point is that, as a paying customer for the past 10 years without any claims whatsoever, I simply never expected to be treated like that.

Have to say, I have never had a problem with them either.

Two cars on a multi-car policy for £400, including declared mods (alloys / body kit / strut brace). Just renewed.

I did have to call them a year or so ago to make a change and it was no problem. Perhaps some have been unlucky with who they get on the phone ?

Did try NeilWillies this year as comparison, but they came in at over £400 for one car and fewer benefits, so sticking where I am.

I also have to stick up for Admiral - With 3 crashes in the past 5 years, all other insurance companies were asking for upwards of 2 grand and even the recommended ones on this forum were wanting a grand, but Admiral were the only company to give me a decent offer under a grand.
So in my book they are definitely NOT a waste of time...:P

Admiral were fine for me for 2 years until I put a forge recirculating dump valve on my coupe. When I tried to declare this "mod" I was told that admiral do not provide cover for ANY cars fitted with dump valves. When I pointed out that the standard coupe is fitted with a DV I was told that they would never have offered cover for me if they'd known that. And I may not have been covered if I'd made a claim. Utterly ridiculous. I won't be going back.

I can't speak highly enough for Admiral. They were the cheapest for me this time around and they've been great handling my claim so far. They've kept me informed every step of the way, provided me with a nice courtesy car, gave me a good valuation for the Coupe (which i managed to increase) and a very reasonable buy back price too.

Hmmm, starting to rethink gettning a policy with admiral now, they quoted me £950 fully comp on a punto gt...dread to think what it would be on a coupe. I'm 24 and live in a respectable area

Tried doing a multi car policy with yes insurance.....utterly hopeless, wanted another 4300 for the punto to be added, lol, with a 1370 deposit, I laughed and Hung up

Although there appears to be a huge choice of insurer's many are part of the same group. Admiral, Bell and Elephant are all part of the same group but quotes can vary massively. - Shop around

The 5th was a Saturday Matt, so it was always going to be taken after that date.

Better take it after the date than before though?

I've just renewed; I have a claim in progress with them so decided to avoid the hassle (plus, the prices on the comparison sites were, well, comparable).

I discovered that the renewal notice contains by bete noir: all you have to do is nothing and we will automatically renew... this is not something up with which I will put and I made my feelings very clear to the agent on the phone - and this appears to have triggered something on their side. Today I received a letter from Admiral thanking me for taking out a policy (ok); that 'our records show a third party gave authorisation (er, no); and that to enable them to apply for any future premiums they require alternative card details (not bloody likely).

This kind of thing really gets my goat. Twenty-odd years ago, Privilege tried this on, to the extent of charging my card and issuing a policy in spite of being informed in writing that I had arranged cover elsewhere. I have not used them since...

My feelings may show:

Your letter of the nineteenth of November brightened up my day beyond measure. Here was I thinking I had just paid for another year of insurance in full – I cavilled only slightly at the price increase since last year, in spite of a lower-rated car replacement – and your letter teases me with the pleasant thought that you may wish to take further payments from me!

What an exciting thought.

Further; you, or your computer, seem to be suffering from the misapprehension that some third party authorised my payment card. 'Tis not true; it was I! I recall doing it, while speaking to your excellently mannered agent only last week. Perhaps your computer has difficulty dealing with the concept of someone who normally uses his middle name and uses his initial forename only in legal communications? I refer you to my full name, which I have placed for your convenience in the signature below.

I have absolutely no intention of leaving an authorised credit or debit card on file with your organisation. I made the point clearly to your agent: I do not make continuing authorisations to anyone, and certainly not when the card in question is a debit card. I believe I made this point upon renewal last year but to be honest I cannot recall; it is however a long-standing policy of mine. Should you desire my custom again next year and in future years, I invite you to *ask* me, rather than assuming that I will be so delighted with you – or that I will be so lazy – that an automatic renewal is in order.

I thank you for your kind offer to listen to canned music at only eight pence per minute (plus network extras) but I decline to accept it, hence this letter.

Yours sincerely,

I just has to cancel my insurance after an hour on the phone to Admiral last night. Had "multicar" policy, Coupe ending in months time and other car ended last week. Discovered it was just going to be cheaper for other car to be insured elsewhere on it sown for the two of us.

So got in from work last night to receive a letter saying they were adding all the multicar deductions back onto the Coupes insurance so in effect to insure my car from now until 23rd Dec was going to cost me £130. I think my insurance normally equates out at £40ish a month. Turns out we were given the wrong set up and advice when we took the policy out and we weren't able to get the full multicar discount until both cars had been insure a year concurrently despite them being just one month apart in start date. At the start of the policys we asked if we could just pay for one montsh insurance and then get them both running at the same time to be told, "No, no, thers no need to do that..."

We ran through details with them and it turned out they had also added a claim on for my partner twice.

Needless to say I just decided to walk away. They wanted us to pay nearly £50 balance including cancellation charges etc.

Lets just say my Coupe is in the garage uninsured until until I get some arranged today! smile
