Might sound like a stupid question but why are my suspensions so nice when its wet?? Just drove back home in the rain from work and it's got to be one of the most pleasing ride! It's not lost it's firmness but definitely less crashy than when dry.

This is not the first time and thought that it could be something to do with the standing water dampening the ride somehow. However, I remember feeling the same thing after the car has been washed. confused

Hi Kelv. No not stupid at all. Water acts as a lubrication in this instance, making that little difference.....

Hi Jimmy smile So in other words, I have to grease everything up to get this feel permanently?

Hi Kelve, well.... you could spray the appropriate oil up in there. Something that wouldn't affect any rubber parts if any & not to look like anything's leaking(come MOT time). Does that make sense?

Could it just be temperature in the tyres? I'd imagine your road temp will be quite high in the dry but in the wet relatively cool.

A few PSI in the tyres makes a lot of difference in my experience.

Very good point Dave! However it is something I experienced in the UK too.. Particularly after washing the car..always feels that much better to drive. I've had this joke with Sparkyman that she is happier when she's clean tongue

Not really Mayzon. I take the same route everyday and know where the little ridges are on the road and how they feel like when going over them at differing speeds. I always use these as a suspension comparison for the different cars i get to drive. There's always one dip on the road that made the coupe feel like it's nose dived into a crater... crazy

The truth is that LE 16 is missing her home in glasgow, the rain reminds her of glasgow for some strange reason.

Come back, then you and LE 16 can be happy again wink

Take the "daytona" corner at speeds that you usually would in the dry, then report back.

Just to lower the tone...

LE16 likes being driven hard when wet....

Kelv you dirty man...
laugh

But I do agree with what your saying, in the wet the car feels better to drive...

Odd..

What oil could you use to lube the shock up with??

I always find it feels better on hot days when the damper oil will be slightly thinner.

Nik: The rumble strips entering the 'Daytona' corner is like running over bread and butter pudding when in wet weather wink

Marco: Try KY jelly laugh

Jimbo: Won't it be the opposite for gas struts?... As in gas expansion in high temperatures resulting in a firmer ride?

The gas is only there to stop the oil from foaming up, the gas doesn't really have an effect on how it compresses, it's the oil that does that and thinner oil will flow through the ports easier.
