Hi everyone,

I have the following problem with my Coupé 2.0 16v: when I press the 'on' button the radioscreen turns red, like it is turned on, but nothing shows up and no music.
It's still the original radio. The car has been standing still for 10 years, but everything else still works perfectly.
Any ideas?

Cheers

Quite some electronic devices don't like being kept asleep for 10 years. Notably condensors start drying out.

Where in Flanders are you?

I've recovered a couple of radios in that condition simply by leaving them powered on the car for a couple of days, and then turning them on.

No guarantees, though...

Thanks for the replies and sorry for my late response. I removed the radio for a week or so. Afterwards plugged it back in again. Sometimes it starts playing now when you turn it on (not always), but after a couple of seconds the radio turns itself of again. Fact is that the car battery that I use is quite small, could it be that it's not powerful enough for the radio? Or what could be the reason?

No it won't be the battery if its powerful enough to turn the car over it will be more than enough for the radio.
