Surely, due to manufacturing tolerances, every car will need a different angular setting to achieve 2mm toe in.

16VT and X1/9 1500 + e208 Peugeot

We must all do our part for the planet.
I unplugged a row of electric cars that nobody was using.
I even unplugged my own.

Try using this calculation, I reckon if you've got 16" rims, each degree would be 3.546mm

Better get the mathematicians out there to check it though crazy

1. Multiply rim diameter in inches by 25.4 to get rim diameter in mm.
2. Multiply the result by PI to get the circumference.
3. Divide the result by 360 to get mm per degree.

No this is not correct.
Each wheel should have 1mm toe in. the calculation is Arcsin 1/(16x25.4) = 0.1409 degrees per wheel
Total = 0.2818 degress

You're both right smile

One gives mm/degree, the other degrees/mm. Roughly 17 minutes 'in' on each wheel.

When I read the title I though sherlock just wanted to adjust his tracking quickly rolleyes

Thanks for the replies,

My mate did it earlier we guessed it at 10 minutes, its definatley better than the 2 degrees it was. The steering wheel's now slightly on the piss so when he straightens it up i'll ask him to get nearer 30 minutes.

Cheers

Thinking about it, is there 60 mins in 1 degree? If so I'm not far off as it is maybe go for 15 minutes total toe in?

Can I ask anyone to explain the use of minutes in tracking?

Not quite true. MrT's calculation gives the relationship between distance around the circumfrence and angle. What is required is the relationship between cordal distance and angle, however I accept for small angles the inaccuracy is negliable

I believe it all started with geometry used for navigation, this link explains better than I can

Degrees and minutes
