I think the time has come to consider selling the coop. I havent used it properly since Le Mans 09.

Would appreciate some advice on value as it needs a few things sorting.

Its a 99 'R', sprint blue, completely standard 20vt, cloth interior, A/c, 91,600 miles. Have all 3 keys and a box of history. Belts done around 70k by previous owner, i had a refurbished turbo put on plus a few other bits in 09.

Main issue is the lacquer on the roof which is 'bubbling' quite badly & needs attention, as do the all too common rear light surrounds.

started a couple of months back to move from the drive to office, and it started first time, drove fine, help 3 bar. Engine is standard with no mods.

Any guidance of £££ would be useful!

Cheers, Mark

belts needed right away, peeling paint - nearer £1200 than jimo's rather optimistic £3k imo....

There's no point selling these cars at all nowadays. I'm amazed at what you can get for the money, yet no one wants to pay anything near what I think these cars should be worth.

That's why I am keeping mine for as long as possible. I'm going to get it mint, bit by bit and run high power in the not to distant future. I think these cars are great for anything from a daily driver, to a Ferrari beater and all for a fraction of the price of the nearest contender.

Keep it bud!

Ideally I wouldnt sell, it's a great car. Thing is it's sat idle not being used. I want a track car for a bit of fun, but if I use this it'll start costing me s lot I'm sure. Plus the lacquer issue I'm sure means a respray

I've been deliberating for months and months!

Turn it into a track car. It's perfect for it!

Then you don't have to worry about the lacquer problem. wink

Keep it in 2 or 3 years when all the crap has been broke a good one will be worth 3.5-4K.

Thats my thoughts its happening with 205 gti's mine is tucked up safe.

Does anyone know if a respray is the only option for this?

I suspect a spray laquer coat would protect the metal underneath? And for a track car, that sounds a good base!

The worst that will happen, is that it will look untidy and/or water could hold under the damaged lacquer and eventually damage the coloured paint.

Fiat put a coat of lacquer/clear coat on, just to help protect the paint, but it doesn't need it, same with any old non metallic paint.

When I crashed my then standard Coupe 5 years ago, the bonnet was replaced and resprayed, along with a new Zender kit I got for it and vented wings.

All were sprayed with 2K paint, with NO lacquer over the top and it still looks ok now.

My boss at the garage where I worked did the spraying and I did most of the prep work, so I know what it was sprayed with and how.

I/We also used to do a lot of bodywork/resprays on the Lancia Integrales, which also suffer lacquer peel and non of the 'flat' colours (red, white) were sprayed over with a clear coat afterwards.
