Wow a year has flown past.

I took a daily drive of mine (clio diesel) off the road this month because it was starting to cost too much (needed a radiator, strut top mounts, exhaust), MOT due soon and insurance was due to expire.

Now it was a daily hack, used as a bit of a van. Insurance went up on this by 30ish percent. I mean wtf.

An old banger that I use for 5000 miles a year and they wanted 450 quid! I know it wasnt gonna be good when, as the oik was processing the quote forewarned me that premiums had increase in the last year.

Needless to saw i said no, forgetaboutit.

So the Coup insurance is due, I receive the renewal notice and.... yes it has gone up.

It was £313 last year, fully comp, 4500 miles with breakdown cover (uk and europe), this year £365

To be honest i didnt think it was that bad, 15% ish increase. I half expected worse.

I've just insured a 2002 Leon Cupra 1.8T, it was £250 more than the Coupe in total and weighed in at £776 for a year although I only had to pay a small amount because the remaining policy was almost expired.

When the renewal came through less than 5 days I'd modified the policy to replace my Coupe, they'd wacked it up to £875.

A quick search on GoCompare saw me covered for £425 and Adrian Flux told to Flux off...

Did you shop around though? they ALWAYS try it on with the renewal price, get a quote as next door with a different name = cheaper, then phone and match it, done.

My Z4 actually went down slghtly this year, most suprised! Still it's £520 or something, a fair bit given 29 with 11 years NCB, low mils, good post code.

Adrian Flux quoted me 30% more for my renewal with them than I could get it from a random on comparethemarket.com. Not only that but I get a free meerkat toy and these things are going for over £100 on eBay so that's another saving.

Is that because you went to a hair salon and forgot to leave the car outside sometime in your past?
