OK, quick update - the Fiat has been 99% finished for some time now - new turbo on, DP fitted, Blitz installed, fuel pump wiring carried out. My problem is this - the Walbro came with the wrong sock filter (i.e the filter that clips over the inlet to the fuel pump) and the bloke sellling the pump kit appears to have strapped the correct one onto a snail whacked out of his tree on Valium. Been waiting over 3 weeks now

My problem is, I'm on leave for a fortnight as of this Friday, and the car needs registering (local version of taxing) and insuring, and I would prefer to leave it at home in the secure carpark rather than outside the workshop.

How big a risk to either the pump or the engine would I run without this sock filter attached, for 30 miles or so ? Don't forget there is a wire mesh filter over the fuel pump inlet, and that the normal inline filter is still present.

Any ideas ?
