I've been dumb. I forgot my insurance was coming up and so didn't search around, so i had to end up taking my renewal price, which is pretty stupid i know.

So was my quote good or could i have saved a lot?

24yrs old, only 2yrs ncb, 3 points

£780 fully comp with £300 excess

www.moneysupermarket.com got me a good quote - great site for a comparison dozens of insurers.

I pay around £500, but I am 34, 3yrs ncb, 9 points and 3 accidents!!! (only 1 at fault though...)

The best one I've had is the RAC Direct.

I'm 34, female, 6 years no claims(protected), with legal cover, 3 points for speeding. £525 fully comp on a 20v Turbo.

That was the cheapest I could find and thought it was quite good

Count your selves lucky.

I pay £1264 and that was the cheapest by about £150. Your all probably thinking, young idiot with 10 points, no no-claims discount etc.

Well the truth is I'm 25 with 6 years No claims discount, no points and live in a low - medium risk area (conflicting info here but I've been told Low most of the time).

The joys of living in Northern Ireland.

Ouch - I heard it was more over there but that's gotta be double what a mainland quote is .

Yeah it's a load of crap.

I cannot back this up as firm proof but an insurance broker once told me that the reasons used to justify the higher prices are no longer valid and that all the spin we hear is just propaganda to prolong these ridiculous prices.

Statistics! Statistics! I wish I could find up-to-date statistics to prove or disprove this.

We can insure northern ireland postcodes at marginally higher rates than the UK. Judging by your details i expect we could get a price for you in the region of £650. Even if your insurer charged a cancellation fee you could probably switch to us and still save loads.

If you would like to recieve a quote please complete your details on our website www.greenlightinsurance.com

Best Regards

Greenlight / Neil
Thank you so much.

I just got a quote there of Greenlight and you were right it's so much cheaper, £600 cheaper to be exact, £657.75.

All I have to do now is phone up and see how much extra it will be to get my NCD protected and whether it is possible to do anything about me losing 7 months NCD (4months with my previous insurance/car and then 3 months with bell on the coupe). Probably not but would be great if I could as it's sickening to think I could lose 7 months NCB
