after spending over a grand in april getting service, clutch etc etc etc sorted, im then told that i need to replace wishbones, gearbox mount, wishbones, track rod ends and droplinks, rear pads.... more ££££s.

i then happen to remember that my tax is due, as is my insurance and that the MOT has run out.. more ££££

so after ordering all the bits i need to get it to pass the MOT (200 odd quid) im driving to work this morning to get pushed off the road andf down the biggest pot hole you have ever seen.

needless to say it does some serious damage and my car now makes a real nasty clonking noise wen going over bumps. so wen i got it home a go to take the wheel off to have a look and see if anything is noticable.

wot i do notice is that my alloy is severly bent on front and back. other than that no obvious signs so chuck the wheel back on and go for a careful drive to see if i can determine the problem. noise remains and so pull up on drive and start to remove the wheel again.

only i cant cos the poxy f***ing wheel bolt has snapped in the hub and is gonna need to be drilled out. GREAT !!!!

im starting to think that me and coupes are not meant for eachother..!

I know how you feel mate. I've just paid out for a new engine mount, new clutch, service, Hid kit, Greedy Profec boost controller, full tan leather interior and Rog's old cat-back exhaust system only to crack my front left alloy again. I now have to wait 4-5 weeks for a replacement.
Oh well, all part of the joy of owning a Coop .
It's all worth it though, just for that one time where the car is working perfectly, the right road and the perfect weather all come together .

Dave

I know of people that have sucessfully got the money to repair/replace alloys due to pothole damage from the council responsible for the upkeep of the road. Did you get a picture of the pothole?

Worth a try maybe

Ex 20VT - now something far more sensible'ish... smile

yeah i went up and got loads of pictures of the pothole and also the damage to the car and i will be writing to council asap and will not let it go lightly as this particular road is full of potholes which are crapply repaired about 3 times a year!

Not that its going to make you feel any better, but on 120000km on Greek roads, I've managed to bend all four alloys on my 16VT (factory fitted 16" ones) bought a second set and I'm half way through that as well...

Whenever I drive down to Crete (roads are really awful down there) I come back with at least one fcuked up wheel.
Never going to try 17"!

Good luck with blucoop VS council saga.

I found you do not need pot holes to bend alloys, just a hump back bridge a Saab and some Dukes of Hazzard style driving
Broke sump and near side front alloy together with its suspension last weekend.
Car is now at some Ford main dealer in Norwich with about 8 weeks wait to be fixed, and they gave me a Fiesta as a courtesy car

I had a Fiat Panda convertible (brand new) as a hire car from Maleme about 10 years ago, and managed to break a steel wheel after one day!

Damn that really sucks. I defiantly feel your pain. I never seem to stop spending money on my coop.

I dont think thats getting refurbed. It looks well and truly fluken klukened to me. Once its bent out of shape like that I cant see how you could get it straight. Sorry.
