Just a guess but I think that .55 will max it's flow up top at around 350 Turbo Technics quote up to 400BHP on a .55 exhaust housing and upto 480BHP on a .63 - so it should be OK.

I can't remember which you have nick but if stage 1 we will know tomorrow and I agree for a road car it will be ideal, my .48 (stage 2), flea chipped, was a great street turbo

My point was, the A/R of the turbine housing is not a limiting factor....
Of course the turbine wheel itself could be a problem. But there are other unknowns which prevent me from taking a guess at the final BHP figure. What revs will the head sustain without significant flow losses and what boost will Flea be able to hold at higher revs with the ECU/Apexi?
On my engine (with different management) a very similar turbo would sustain 1.7 bar from 4000 - 7500 RPM or 1.8 bar from 4000 to 6900 RPM. If Flea only gets to hold 1 bar at 7000 RPM, for example, the engine output will be significantly different.

would the turbine housing had to have been machined to accept a stage 3 wheel?? If so then i believe i only have stage 1?? yes it would. I think you have stage 1 also

just read your tuning guide again saint.... So the turbine wheel is the one that is mainly affects lag... So even though top end will be sacrificed my turbo should 'switch on' not far off as quickly as a standard one!?
nick It's not quite that simple as your OE size turbine is driving a bigger compressor (fan) so it takes more torque on the shaft to get the bigger compressor turning which raises boost threshold (commonly known as more lag, though not strictly correct). In general terms, and only looking at the wheels on the shaft, not housings, it is the turbine that effects boost threshold more. Once you move beyond wheels to the overall turbo package exhaust a/r has a large impact. Turbo companies offer changes to A/R not turbine size these days to change the boost character, the old T3/4 models had the different trim and stage offerings Yeah, the .55 will switch on pretty quick with a stage 1 - will be good

Another problem!! nothing major.... Wastegate needs adjusting as flea can only get boost to spike to 0.9bar then hold 0.7bar so hopefully adjusting actuator rod length will allow more boost!? i had mentioned to leighton that it may need adjusting as a different exhaust housing had been bolted on weeks after getting it from my turbo guy so there was a good chance the actuator length wasn't right! adjustment tomorrow a.m. 1.7 bar by p.m. .... nick
