Lots of rain on driving home today, parked up tonight and after about hapf an hour, the siren went off.
No indicator flashes or anything, and the button on the fob seemed to have no effect. Eventually unlocking, then opening and reclosing the doors and boot seemed to shut it up.

Left the alarm off and locked with the key, and a couple of times in the last hour is has emitted half a bleep and stopped.

To prevent the neighbours banging on the door at 4am, whats the best way to shut it up if it's totally shafted?

It's a 99 T 20VT, and its a Meta alarm.

Please PM if you can help!

Hi,
You need to open the bonnet & undo the three bolts at the top of passenger wing (10mm socket), so that you can disconnect your faulty siren. Happily it is quite easy to do without removing the wing entirely and the wiring connector should be apparent to undo, tape up and Tie wrap out of the way.
Should you want to fit a replacementSiren, you'll need to remove the two (10mm) mounting bolts. The outboard bolt is easy but the inboard mounting bolt is slightly trickier, as you don't have much room so will need a short 10mm open ended spanner. Et Voila!
PS Assuming it is an M11A Siren, these are no longer available, but I believe an alternative is sold by Abacus alarms. See Meta Alarm FAQ for contact No.
PPS I disected my siren recently, in case I could find a battery to replace or dry it out. Forget it!
Cheers

Steve,
My M11a Siren went faulty a couple of weeks ago; I suspect that what is occuring is that the self powered Battery (or Capacitor) can no longer accept a sufficient charge. This must then create a voltage drop, trigger for the Siren, self protect circuit when the engine is not running, even with the alarm not set!
In an effort to see if there was a replaceable battery, or if it was full of water, I carefully cut my Siren open around the "Build joint" and removed the domed, plastic Horn, only to discover that the remainder is all "potted" together in one piece and therefore non-repairable scrap. Hopefully This will now save you and anyone else wasting their time as well?
Cheers,
