With all the other regions talking about meeting up for a pre- (or post-) Christmas meeting how about one for the South East?

Usual requirements for venue- large car park, aminable landlord, good food, near and easy enough for all to get to. Geograhically speaking that would probably mean between Guildford and Tunbridge Wells:-
Volunteer at Sutton Abinger, Lamb at Rusper, Griffin at Fletching or Dorset Arms at Withyham spring to mind but not really fussed as long as we have a good meet up.The Grasshopper in Westerham back in March was a great success (CHOD failure not withstanding!!).

Any other suggestions on venue and possible date welcome.

The Owl at Kingsfold? Nice big carpark & space for dining & reasonable food. I'll put a link once on PC. smile

How's about a Saturday or Sunday lunch time in December?
Not quite walking distance, but I have been known to yomp home before wink I thought it is pretty central and easy to find and only 25mins off the M25 if there are any interested in coming from Far & Wide smile Nice straight run for you too. Thats where we first met, (gets all misty eyed wink )
Ross.

I think the Owl is a great choice. Definitely keen so maybe we need to start a tentative list and decide on the date. Saturday lunchtime might be slightly less popular or busy close to Christmas- I am sure we'd need to book so need to have an idea of numbers. As a starter how about Saturday 10th. December 2011 at 1:00pm?

It's all been a bit quite on this recently- The geese are getter fatter and we probably need to at least ring the Owl and find out their availability.

Barring two of us it could be either Saturday or Sunday. On the basis that there is a tentative 12(ish) I will ring and find out what they could do on either Saturday 10th. or Sunday 11th. December and get back to you. No idea what they might need as deposit on stuff like that but I'll find out!! Once committed we will need to show up!!

Alan- I can pick you and Jan up on the way through if the Beast is no longer running (or even limping!).

I'll report back when I have any news; in the meanwhile anybody else who fancies it and can make the date is very welcome to add their name to the list.

I tried to add this last night but something went wrong so I'll have a go now.

I have rung the Owl and they are very friendly and obliging except they have now NO vacancies for any Sunday lunchtime in December- all booked already!! Saturday 10th. or 17th. are both free (at the moment) and I have looked at their Christmas menu -as attached, it looks good.

http://www.theowl-kingsfold.co.uk/owl_xmas2011.pdf

If we can agree on firm numbers we will need £5.00 per. head deposit sent to them with the booking.

Let me know who's up for it and which of those two days (or both) you can make. Also other halves, friends etc. I can then sort out things here with the pub.

Chris

Hi Chris

Yes thank you, that would be great if you could pick us up. How should we pay the deposit? perhaps we could all paypal it to you, that way you can guarantee the numbers and it would be quicker.

Regards

Alan

To all sending money via Pay-pal, please emsure you make it a "personal" transaction, or pay-pal will take a % in fees!

My view is we give it until next weekend and then decide. At the moment we could hold the event in a bus shelter given the numbers!! frown

If we haven't got a resonable number by Sunday evening I suggest we give up and start again in the New Year; maybe springtime?
