http://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-motor...n-motd/88216712Will be going to view it tomorrow evening. Seems to be genuine seller but what worries me is no service history and she only had it 1.5 months. What do you think it is worth without any SH at all? Just done the online MOT check and it seems like the mileage can be genuine. Thanks in advance.

Service history is not essential, and can be faked anyway. At that money, its worth buying, even if you have to do a belt change/full service straight away. My two cents anyway

I know that it can be faked thou it's nice to see some receipts. How much you reckon I should offer bearing in mind cambelt change and full service?

on one side relatively low mileage with no service history and seller getting rid after only a few weeks of ownership, i would be very wary
although there is the other side in that it is cheap and has a decent mot on it, if you could get the price down a bit might be worth going to look at if nothing else
although as you will be aware if you need to spend a bit solving any probs which you find out about you could find yourself spending the same again on it at which point it wouldn't have been worth it, i like a car which the owner can show me receipts for work done as at least it shows the owner has looked after it

Tbh, I wouldn't personally bother. Be better spending £1200 on a forum car, which will probably have history. And probably be a very cheap 20vt instead.

Truth is, you never really know what you're buying. Even with all the receipts in the world and stacks of service history, it's all very hit and miss.
Look at Patch's broomy. It was a minter and had all the right signs for great car to buy, then the turbo went and the oil pressure dropped and the person who just bought it let it go for £400 as he was fed up.
