Several forum admin guys have helped with this, Kayjey in particular has been guiding me on upload. It's been a nice experience being welcomed here, thanks.

But even with his kind assistance it's going to be a very slow process partly because the system is tedious to administer at my end compared with uploading to my own site and also as I don't have any admin rights.

I've said this before but a big club like this really should buy into internal photo hosting.

Were always happy to help laugh

We have looked into this before Guy. The problem is the traffic we have had hitting this place the past few years has been phenomenal. We currently have a dedicated server and a very large quota for bandwidth. We still find some months we are very close to the limit.

If we have image upload facility we will need to consider trebbling our bandwidth allowance which will be very very expensive for the numbers we are talking about here.

We are in a financial position to do this however we feel members money would be best spent on other areas such as remanufacturing of obsolete parts.

Were in no rush anyway... looking forward to the finished article thumb

We're close to 80GB transfer per month the last 2-3 months. Needless to say it's rather costly. (And don't start me on unlimited packages - been there, done that, dead slow.)

Guy, I just want to ask. If you think the 20VT head is a 'lousy design', why are you going through the trouble of reposting all your work on it?

Hell I have to work on a lot of things I don't like overmuch (from a purely bland design perspective). It's only my opinion and from that point of view as I said to Nigel on pm it doesn't matter what I think and I know that. Your forum is generous in the matter of opinions and I have some, yes.

So - 3 reasons:

1. A few folk have asked me to, nicely.
2. I rather like FCCUK and happen to think the site is important.
3. Although I don't want to work on them again I do have a useful archive of material that might benefit others. Pure altruism, see?

FWIW - I NEVER want to work on a Gp4 16v Fiat 124 1800 engine again I have two in build probably worth more than my house and the heads are a total fright! I will however post the details on my own site when I get time, some poor soul might find it useful. There are numerous other Fiat models on my blacklist too!

As standard/unmodified valve-in port flow appears to compare well with the 16V head doesn't it?

103 cfm x 5 cylinders = 515 cfm
127 cfm x 4 cylinders = 508 cfm

(127 cfm valve-in stock port flow from my notes)

Comparing bare port flows:

106 cfm x 5 cylinders = 530 cfm
136 cfm x 4 cylinders = 544 cfm

it would seem there are less losses with the valve in on the 20V (2.83%) than the 16V (6.62%). Does that mean a better port design or better valve/seat design?

Guy the second image on the last picture post you made in your thread has ellipsis in the link. It is not the entire link, perhaps this is the problem?

Guy, I believe a 35mm diameter pipe has a cross sectional area of 962 sq mm, 21.5% smaller than the 1225 sq mm you state in post #1268479 of the 20v head prep thread.

I can't see "DDR" mentioned, although I can see SSR, which I believe is for "short side radius" or something similar

I think it must have been a typo since corrected - "DD" is next to "SS" on the keyboard!

I'll be at home, just not very much on the PC having to take care of Lene + some jobs around the house. Will try and remember, put an alarm in the phone around 11.

Guy - great stuff, really interesting! It's fun getting the pics and trying to find out what they are without the text. smile

Guy - even though I have no idea what most of your posts really mean, i'm still finding it really interesting! I always like listening to people talk about subjects they genuinely know a lot about!

Which was done for Matty up in Scotland, who then sold it to Anthrax, who then crashed his car and then broke the car for parts, one of those items was the GC head.
