Fancied a change from the TSW alloys (they need a clean up anyway), so bought some nice new shiny ones -

Team Dynamics Monza 17 x 7 with Falken 452 225 x 45 x 17

Usefully the wheels are a straight fit with plenty of clearance round the Brembos as they have a PCD of 4 x 98 and and the important ET of 27, so no spacers!

Not sure what to do with the old ones, maybe sell them.

Thanks - only wish it was. Just shows how photos lie, as you can't see all the stone chips!

I have one small problem to sort and that on full lock there is a little rubbing on the air vents in the wheel-arch liner. Think that's because of the '45' depth. The old tyres were 235 x 40 x 17 and I'm hoping that the extra rubber will cushion out some of the bumps.

Still only 35k on the clock so going well.

Try a long cable tie through the vents & on to someting rigid in the engine bay. I had just this issue before I got the right profile tyre for the speedo/car. It sorted it out, you might need the 10mm type of tie to give you the pulling power to deform. Available at yout local Screwfix. smile

I cut the vents back slightly with a little rotary tool. You will see where the tyres are rubbing on the vents so it makes it easy to see how much needs to be cut away.

Thanks everyone for the comments!

I have been waiting to see where it really is rubbing and it's not too bad. Where the side skirts are fixed, within the wheel arch, the 'lip' is quite high and that's one place - shaving a bit off should sort that out.

Drivers side, there's a raised bit of the liner, near the base and that's rubbing. Trimming that back should be easy.

Apart from that I will investigate the use of ties - have some V.large black ones in the toolkit!
