Meeting a few friends on saturday for a drive, me in the coupe a heavy modded 328, a Z4 230bhp, and a standard 328.

Can anyone recommend places to stay, the cheaper the better as only need it for a place to sleep.

Could be up to 50 mile radius as dont mind the driving.

Will I get left behind by the rear wheel drive gang in my standard 20 v turbo?

Cheers

http://www.giler.co.uk/ Looks a nice place, not too far and gives you chance to explore the rest of the area too. Rooms start at £40, so not too bad smile

Seriously, be careful on the Triangle at weekends. NW Police are well aware how popular this is with fast cars and bikers and frequently have one of their scanner vans at some point along the route.

Please don't forget too that there are some equally good roads in the local area, some in my opinion better than the triangle which are much less well known. You might want to try and approach the triangle along the A5104 for instance which runs from Broughton just south of Chester all the way to near Corwen on the A5.

Similarly the narrow back road from Bala to Llyn Vyrnwy is well worth doing coming back to Bala slightly to the north on the B4391. These roads are twisty and narrow in places though so might suit a more agile hot hatch a little better than the Coupe or RWD BMW. Still worth it for the views though.

There's loads more but I don't want to give away all my secret spots. Just buy an OS map, go exploring away from the major roads and you're sure to find some real gems.

Watch out for builders vans parked on the higher sections of the triangle, these rust buckets have hidden speed cameras inside them wink

Watch out for horse boxes too!

Sneaky ;o)

I'd also consider staying around Betws Y Coed, if you want cheap as chips perhaps somewhere like here:

Bunkhuts

If you go to Betws though stay clear of the Old Stables for food. Not the best pub grub. Far better is the Conwy Falls Cafe up the road towards Penmachno or if you'd rather not drive then there's a small Pizza place Caban y Pair opposite the chippy. Its BYO for drink but the pizzas are fantastic.

Staying in Conwy on the coast could be another option. Lots of pubs there and a good Italian, Alfredos at the top of the high street.

to answer your original question - I doubt that your coupe would have any problems staying with them - except on the twisty stuff... coupe doesn't have the best handling... mind you not sure i'd want to be in a rear wheel drive on those bends either!

Cheers for the advice all, but the trip is off. I went down to see John today for a service and have ended up spending £900.

Not a great day, but Now 20 on tape in the borrowed KA made me smile.

This Coop thing is 100% love/hate.
