I'm using silicone hoses for both, air intake and water.
In my opinion, silicone hoses are not as suitable as their rubber counterpart for water. Silicone's water permeability rate is greater than rubber. The daily heat cycling of a road car will cause you to lose water from your cooling system at a quicker rate.
Maybe its the weather here in Malaysia, but compared to when i had standard rubber hoses, i find that my reservoir tank now needs more frequent top-ups.
