I got my car today and I am so pleased with it. Scampers along very well. My son drove it and wants it BADLY. 59,000 kms No body dings or scratches...needs a good clean and its getting detailed tomorrow including an engine shampoo and detail and complete interior. Some pics as it arrived. Paul

Congratulations Paul,
Odd to see them hefty side indicators on your coop. I've seen them on Asian ones. Where does yours come from if I may be so rude to ask?

Japan car
Interior is mint except for some sticky plastic on the brake lever console...i will get that fixed up soon.
I will post interior and engine pics tomorrow as it is now too dark to take any here.
I am going to rely on your fellows to help me maintain this thing correctly and find parts etc when needed.
I already have a new timing belt, serpentine, water pump, tensioner and a complete gasket kit... may pull the engine and do a major this winter...
... or can it be done without pulling the engine?
Paul

Probably the rubber coating on the console. Nothing unusual there. Have a look at 'How to's ' on how to refurb centre console. Are the side repeaters required in Canada to be that shape too?

Odd to see them hefty side indicators on your coop. I've seen them on Asian ones. Where does yours come from if I may be so rude to ask? That's funny, I have the same rectangular side indicators on my UK Coupe. When I saw it was different from standard I was paranoid it had been in an accident and someone who repaired the car had maybe popped the wrong ones on. But a friend who owns a body shop had a very thorough look round the car and there's no signs of any bodywork or accident repairs. Even measured the paint depth and everything. So do you think these indicators came as standard with some Coupes? You can't even replace them with the standard round indicators since the rectangular ones have three mounting holes in the side wing rather than just one hole for the standard indicators. Anyone know where these rectangular indicators came from? Did FIAT temporarily run out of the round ones and pop another type on so as not to hold up production? My car was registered in September 1999 if that's any clue? Would love to solve the mystery.

Import maybe? As far as I know, they've only been featured on the Asian market. Legislation. You have a fabled Malaysian Coupe!

You have a fabled Malaysian Coupe! Errr not sure about that since I have the original bill of sale from the supplying dealer in Cumbria. Also my Coupe has the window etching like all UK spec cars Mityrare, sorry to hijack your thread. Your Coupe looks nice by the way. Like the black sills too - just as the manufacturer intended.

You have a fabled Malaysian Coupe! Malaysian coupes have the normal small round repeaters. And there's nothing fabled about them - I suspect that outside of Europe, Malaysia has the biggest Coupe community. All the very last Coupes to ever be made came to our shores (one is mine teehee).

Rectangular indicators were only used in Japan, along with the different front "wings", but I guess 1 or 2 might have slipped through to other markets...

Off topic slightly: If it's a Japanese Coupé you're after (or if you fancy rectangular side repeaters): clicky

Nice to know that i don't have to remove the engine for belt and waterpump change. Started removing the soft sticky rubber on the parking brake console today. The Rocky Mountains are thousands of miles from me so my pictures will be different...but we do have some wonderful scenery around these secluded wooded areas where i prowl. Yes the car was imported under the 15 year old rule and importing anything into Canada has become a total pain in the bottom.... its my fifth import and it is a stressful process not for the faint of heart... as you never know if it will be allowed in until the 11th hour after you have paid lots of $ I have been lucky so I think I will now stop buying/importing cars. The marker lights give her character Paul
