I know this wont be to everyone's taste but i'm keen to see if anyone has come across a company who would be able to make/create something similar to the following at reasonable prices. Im not interested in the wrapping process (and I know any weight saving will be negligible in the real stuff) but since seeing the following some time ago I've always fancied getting something similar for my car. Google tends to throw up companies now and again but keen to get some feedback/experience from anyone who's used a specific place before.

I've been tempted to have a play around with the kits that these guys sell but have some concerns that a DIY job just wouldn't cut the mustard. www.carbonmods.co.uk/

I made a mold some months back to do just this, but haven't had the time to lay one up yet, if ever.click to enlarge This was from carbonmods as I wanted to try the backing up putty which worked very well.

would you not need a mold of the other side as well for all the fixings, and then bond the 2 pieces together?

In theory yes. If you were going to manufacture them then you would have to sort out the rear face fixings.
As a one off for own use, I was just going to make and bond in what it needed. It's alot of work for very little!

The mould looks really good! Getting a decent finish and rigid enough would be my main concern.

This took two of the starter kits to give you some idea. Not the most economical way but if this is all your doing then its not bad.

I did change my console slightly. I brought the cd/radio foreward to the front. And unlike the carbon pic I have cut out the small climate sensor grill.

To leave as carbon for the look? Would look black until you got up close but why not.
If you mean as a long term remedy, think its been mentioned before about fiberglass ones, sure someone will do them.
