...that the very early 16/16vt Coupe (or maybe just the pre-production models) came with

- a round FIAT steering wheel badge
- the 16v/16vt script positioned lower down on the B pillar
- an oil pressure gauge that goes up to 6 bar shocked

After all these years I only just spotted that in the early brochures, you can see it in the shot of the instrument panel of a blue one in the UK brochures which came out quite a bit later than the brochures in the rest of Europe

6 bar of paranoia! I think that would have even more oil pressure questions and "help, I'm only seeing x bar at x revs" than even Stan could lock!

Agreed, my old one managed about 0.8 bar very hot.

I doubt it even saw 6 on full chat laugh

So did any of these 6 bar gauges ever make it out onto the streets? Not the most useful design however, each division is 0.75 bar crazy

Dave - the blue piccy has near-identical elements to the red one - could it simply be a photoshopped version of the red one?

Yes, that's what I thought, it appeared on a page with a blue Coupe, so maybe they just fished around in the image bank and got creative with Photoshop...

And whilst the lower B pillar badge is seen on some press photos and early review articles, they never featured in any of the early brochures AFAIK.

(and it's 9km tongue wink laugh )

Blue one is almost certainly Photoshop.

Interestingly (or not!), the diagram on EPER also shows it going up to 6 bar. Not going to order an early product code to see though!

There is a low badged model up for sale in Italy here.

Mad never noticed just had a browse through the 95 brochure to and as you say theres the big red pic small side shot aswell.

Got to say though in this case I see why they changed to the rectangle badge the round one just looks stuck on not really a fan looks nice to see something different though. 8)

Hmph. 2.5 bar hot at a hundred and sixty thousand miles do you?

Here's an observation: my 16NA steering wheel has the 'fiat' embossing in black; on the 20s it's in blue...

That was the conclusion I came to having seen an early pic so now I'm trying to track one down to swap over my 20V blue-badged one.

Here's another pic, from "Le Grandi Automobili" (No. 45, Fall 1993) showing barnacle's "black" airbag steering wheel, but also the 6 bar oil pressure gauge (I think, picture not printed that clearly)

And what's wrong with 15" wheels, pray?

When I bought the 16, 195/55R15 were considered low profile, and cost a bloody fortune to replace.
