I know there has been a lot of talk about HIDS and the new MOT rules coming in - I asked at my local friendly garage and he said they were aware of something coming in but it wasn't going to be as draconian as failing cars with non adjustable/washerless HIDS, just a check for alignment.. Anyone else got anything on it?

I have one dead one at the moment and am trying to work out whether it's worth investing £50 in a new pair or not..

Well for what it's worth, I purchased a cheap set along with others on here some time ago & still going strong. It's been well discussed on here about MOT's & this form of lighting. What I've done is I have two sets of lights. One candle set for the MOT & I'm in the middle of refurbing the lenses of my HID ones as they are off the car at the moment.

Even cheaper set here . I've been using 2 sets of HID's that cost less than £30 for nearly 2 years now with no problems.

For me,i'd rather they came from the uk,so if there were any issues with them, the returns/exchange process 'should' turn out to be easier.....hopefully..

Obviously in general, you tend to get what you pay for. Along with others on here I paid twenty odd quid a set. A couple or so years later, still going strong. For me I'm more than happy...The only thing I would recommend is, get the slim ballast type. idea

My first set of HID's have lasted me about four and a half years now cool

I do eventually want the slim ballasts though smile

As I fitted my others years ago, I can't remember what the brightness and wattage were. 35W and 6K I think?

What's the spec of the Coupe owners most commonly bought HID's these days?

I've just ordered a set of 55w 4,300k slimline HIDs ('UK' seller) off of eBay and they arrived yesterday. I checked them over and it appears they are rated with a P out of 35w(55w) norm. Any idea what this means? They've got 35w written within a code on the ballast too.

I've asked the seller if he can clear this up, but the ones I've currently got on my car with a fat ballast say 50w.

F****** b****** thing...
