What is the best way to remove (or cover up) spray paint from the rubber seals? I have just had a full respray (back to the metal) on my Moon and there are just a couple of areas where there is visible Grigio Moon 671 on the rubber seals around the doors. She looks so love that I am feeling particularly anal and want her to look 100% perfect rather than 99%.

I have paint stripper (will this damage the rubber), white spirit, matt black paint and tyre dressing, as well as a collection of very fine artist's brushes. Should I try and remove the paint or cover it over with a very steady hand wink ? Any advice would be gratefully received - Patch????

Cheers,
Tim

I'd try and remove it. If you paint over it, that will eventually come off and you'll be left with the overspray being visible again.

Don't use paint stripper, if you touch your new paint with it, well, you know what will happen.

White spirit will be safer and won't melt the rubber like thinners will, although obviously try and avoid touching the new paint with that too.

The best way is a sharp blade. Scrape it lightly against the overspray and it will come off, leaving just a few light scratch marks on the rubber, which can then be made less visible with a tyre/rubber dressing.

Hi Tim

This is what we use in the bodyshop.

Black Box

You can get them at most car accessory shops.

Wet and dry is what I used on my Alfa's rubbers once. Use it wet, and gently rub. The paint should come off and the rubber should remain 100% as its flexibility ensures no damage. Did my rubbers 4 years ago and there's nothing that gives it away, still black and smooth.

surgical spirit and rub accordingly,
then one done use some nice simonez rubber restorer in the small plastic bottle with the sponge on the top to apply.

the surgical spirit should be gentle enough on the rubber yet strong enough to remove the paint)

go gentle on the rubbing at first. (thats what all the ladies say) lol

but I reckon that should do the trick and the rubber should look "dappa".
