In his weekly column Steve Sutcliffe says his 74 year old father rang him to say he was buying a 20VT. Steve asked him why, suggesting he wouldn't like it. It was bought anyway and it turned out Steve thought it a bit of a performance bargain. Good article until the last paragraph when he said that a few days later his Dad said he was selling it as he didn't like the steering or the boost being all over the place (the original reasons suggested for why he wouldn't like it).

Oh well, nearly a positive article!

Andy

Maybe it was the father not the car all over the place.

Right!
Who sold a fluctuating-boost-Coupe to a dad-of-an-Autocar-writer...? With possible bad tracking I might add. frown

Nice to see a Coupe in Autocar though, been a while.. smile

I've just been reading this and was going to post it. Here's a snap of the article taken by my phone. Hopefully you can make it out

Thanks for posting this.
The photo's nice quality but the journalism contradicts itself.
I wonder if the real reason Dad sold up was that he came on here, read up on CHODs and cambelts, and realised £1300 was the thin end of the wedge?

... and the thick end of the wedge is about the size of an Italian cruise liner. Still, it won't be the first time that someone has bought a Coupe because of its looks rolleyes (and I've still got mine, even though the end of the wedge is getting wider)!

New article on the "blog" section... not much about the Coupe, but an interesting read.
