Just wondering if anyone has replaced a faulty ECU with a used unit?
Bought one for my 16vt, as a spare but when tried the key code light stayed on.

Been told its useless without its original key & control box that picks up key signal?

Surly if ECU packs up you dont need to change all locks e.t.c?

No mention of code unit on wiring diagram for pins on ECU some listed as NOT CONNECTED so maybe those?(car thief protection in Fiat manual?)

Peter.

Contact GrahamL, he can reset your 2nd ECU box back to its virgin state and accepts your code box, so you don't need to change the code box, and full set of locks.

Yes - changed out my ECU. Used a company in Nottingham. Can't remember the details, but I think they supplied it uncoded, and then gave it to the garage with all my keys. They then programmed the ECU and re-programmed the keys, or something like that.

Could try to dig out the details if necessary.
