parents would like one after burglaries in the area.

I am not sure how good the wireless ones are or if they can be blocked or if a wired one is better/worse.

Anyone have any recommendations or knowledge.

They have about £300 - £500 to spend.

Don't buy a Response 6 zone alarm. I've got one, and it'll go off if a bear sh!ts in the woods on the other side of the world grr

The Response Wireless one's I've had experience with (fitted one and moved into a house with one) are grade A sh!te.

Get a hard wired one installed. Can be a bit messy to do, especially if they have sheet flooring instead of floorboards, but definitely worth the extra expense.

I fitted a Texecom system, not cheap at around £300.

Shop around for a local installer. A good fitter should be able to install a wired system in a day.
