hi ive just joined the forum and i'm really impressed with the amount of info on here, i find it very useful.I have a standard 98 20v turbo with 100,000 miles on and i'd like to tune it up to around the 350bhp mark. The car is now off the road and thought i'd get some advice on choosing parts for the transformation. So far i have added GTEC 2 chip,3.8 bar fpr, walbro 255 fuel pump,12v pump feed k&n air filter with side intake pipe.Basically i need advice on turbo choice, front mount intercooler size, intercooler pipe size(2.52 or 3") and exhaust size recommendation(obv this is according to turbo choice?).Any advice would be greatly apreciated and looking forward to building the car!!

your on the right track. you need to do the following to make sure your doing the right thing. Compression check complete fluid change then buy the following... Boost controller Bigger turbo (stage 3 Hybrid/GT28RS) pro alloy OR Evo FMIC (2.5" IC pipe kit) GOOD BRAKES Suspension (lower arms/uprated shocks/uprated springs ect) then take it to a pro for mapping. thank you good night

someone like barbz (torque italia) or flea (fc performance) will give you advice/fit the parts for the job.
The cheapest/easiest way is probably 2.75" blueflame exhaust and stage 3 hybrid but it should really be mapped by fc performance for 350hp.
a mitsubishi evo intercooler is a good route as you can get them off ebay and choose the pipework size/route to suite. if not fc performance/ pro alloy makes a kit.
you will also need a clutch and is not worth skimping on, jbt and torque italia both offer cheaper alternatives to a helix now.
and on top of that you will need handling and breaking upgrades.

Thanks for replies folks, has anyone ever used a t series garrett turbo t3/t4 etc? obv the manifold would need changing or modifying to fit but I can sort that. Just wondering if this was an option other than a gt series? i want to keep the car looking standard but go like hell!

Welcome Be warye of changing the exhaust manifold to a stainless one. The ones available on ebay have a very bad reputation, with good reason. There is a long thread on here with detail pictures. The OE Fiat manifold is proven up to 500bhp. There are plenty of options to increase power, the common proven routes are either a bolt on hybrid or the GT series. Feel free to try something different an post the results!

the cheapest way is to get a hybrid using machined housings based on the standard turbo, you will probably not get the full 350bhp out of it but you wont be far off it if you get the largest version with the compressor and turbine wheels from the gt28rs, with the gt series turbos i would guesstimate you are going to be another £500 or so
if you can try and get a passenger ride in a couple of modified coupe's to see the difference in the way they drive

in some ways 350hp is a weird territory because you will be right on the edge of the std engine with a possible failure in the future, and the turbos that are really able to get a "true" 350hp will be wasted as your not be able to run full boost and/ or you will have extra lag.
your better of with a real world 320hp and less lag running less boost and torque which will be more within the limits of std internals.
doug20vt seems to have done alot of research on hybrids and looking at fleas table the stage 3 hybrid would have my performance per pound money.

md20vt - I'm just 15mins away in Stone, but don't have my 20VT any longer. Happy to help with any questions you have though I sold my old 20VT to Hovedan. It was producing 350bhp when sold, and has a couple of tweaks to push it to 360hbp in Dan's ownership. Dan's spec is listed here. You can see that Marco is spot on with his advice above (FMIC, Hybrid Stage 3, Flea Remap, 3"DP) ... make sure you include the other things that will ensure that you can still go round corners safely and stop safely though! 350bhp makes for a pretty quick car. The car has been running this level of power for 3-4years now ... and is probably one of the Coupes on here that sees the most track time! And neither I or Dan are particularly 'gentle' with it on track From this, it'd seem that you are pretty safe running a Coupe engine at this level of tune without forging, etc.

I can't wait to get mine done now first thing i need to do is stick a clutch in as it slips on boost with standard power!are the fast road red clutches on ebay ok to use? item number 250969387008. Am i ok to use standard injectors? I think your right jonone i don't want to push things too much on standard internals thanks for all the advice folks

Stay well clear of the eBay clutches; some are good and others are just painted rubbish. If you are thinking of 320 to 350 bhp I would use a paddle/organic hybrid supplied by either Barbz (Torque Italia) or JBT (Midlands Car Servicing). Not expensive, and you know exactly what you are getting. A good condition standard clutch will hold 300bhp/280lb/ft for a while, but any more torque and you will have problems.
Good luck, Tim

3076 is a bit too much for a standard internal coupe.
A GT28rs or an GT28R is more what your looking for mate!!
A 3076 will be epicly laggy upto the top end of the rev range then... BBBBOOOOSSSSTTTT... Change gear.
