What sort of power have you guys got with what mods on standard internals on a 16v turbo engines ??

The engine's gone through several stages, from stock, to -er- not so stock.

Made some fairly major changes recently but more about that in the future...

BTW if you're wondering what sort of power you can make on standard internals:

approx. 230 bhp-250 bhp on completely stock engine and turbo.

approx 250 bhp-350 bhp with uprated turbo and matching mods. But bear in mind, original stock pistons will be 16 years old and it will be very easy to crack a ringland at levels much above 300 bhp. Recommended to fit forged pistons for reliable regular hard use of a 300bhp+ 16VT.

Yeah I'm just looking for standard turbo and piston atm but 230-250 sounds good to me, what mod what you recommend to start with ??

Mods I'd highly recommend:

>2.5" downpipe
>decat
>fuel pump direct battery feed "wiring mod"
>live map

...and of course a healthy engine - good compression, unworn cams, healthy clutch

All of the above equals a fast standard engine with strong torque, that's a lot more fun to drive.

Plus I also know a couple of tricks to make the most of the standard engine!

My last power run showed 252bhp. But since then I've decat'd it and it feels a lot quicker. Mods are

K&N panel filter and drilled airbox
Cybox catback exhaust
Colder sparks
Bailey dump valve
Oil breather mod
Stage1 chip

Soon it'll be in the capable hands of the mad professor kj and hopefully breaking 300bhp

T34 turbo, live map and supporting mods ie larger injectors, 4bar fuel regulator, 2.5 inch downpipe, front mount inter cooler and fuel pump Wiring mod.

If that lot doesn't get me 300bhp I'll burn the the car down and buy a pink ford ka!

Gan, you already have a catch can for the oil brether mod, custom system + De-cat, DV and all you need to do is get colder spark plugs and a map!

yeah ive also got a 255 fuel pump, 3bar FPR and a FMIC

i dont see why you cant make 300 with those mods lol

Turbo can't flow enough air for 300bhp and the injectors will be maxed out

what injectors are you using deme??

Begbie, KJ will be rebuilding the turbo with t04e compressor so should be good for at least 320bhp.

gs, Ive got a set of 440cc injectors sitting around that i got for a good price. Should be ok for 300bhp if not i'll chop them in for some larger ones...

Chop them in for bigger ones! 440cc injectors are never really a good size for the 16VT. unnecessary for the standard turbo and too small for much bigger turbos. I'd recommend 550cc-660cc (high impedance). Any those sizes will work well, mine are Siemens Deka 660cc.

cool, id like to chat a bit more about these injectors. Ive been told they flow 474cc at 3bar and im planning on fitting a 3.8bar fpr.

I know crgracing is running these and getting 300bhp with a 3bar fpr.

Going larger is the way to go but not sure the pocket is deep enough at the moment!!

where do you recommend getting injectors from??
