Still, not too shabby as for the last 13 years I have smoked at least 10 a day!
Still a learner then? For 15 years, I have smoked at least 20 - 40 fags a day, plus a further 10 years at about 60 a day I have however, which will now come as a shock to readers of the forum, given up! Only been 9 days and 8 hours without a fag so far, but I intend to keep going I do, however, have enough nicotine substitues to help me through it, that would kill a normal smoker Keep going shiny, you'll get through it

Still a learner then? Ha! I said at least 10 a day... when I was trucking that was easily over 20, combine that with a trip to the pub and its over 40! I have to be honest, I wasnt even finding it that hard to quit - I didnt want one that bad this morning, just got offered one, and more out of habit than anything else popped it in my gob and lit it. Weirdly in the first few days I was getting terrible sweats, nicotine sweats maybe?!

Good luck mate. View it differently that "you've had one". View it that instead of 110 fags in 11 days, you've had one fag in 11 days. Ross

View it that instead of 110 fags in 11 days, you've had one fag in 11 days. Like your logic Ross! I've actually had two now... ah well sod it, today's a write off anyway, might as well enjoy it until tomorrow!!

It doesn't work like that Matt, you have to be 100% non smoking.
I used to smoke but stopped nearly 30 years ago.
The nature of nicotine addiction is that were I to smoke a single cigarette now, I would almost certainly then go on to a second tnen a third....

Very true Pete.
I think though (although no doubt nicotine related) in my case, its more habit rather than desire.
Like I posted above, I really hadnt found it too difficult to not smoke, the only cigarette that is hard not to have is the first one of the day, which is normally rank anyway.
For me, again its the habits that die hardest - after my dinner is probably when I want a smoke the most.

I had stoped for about 26 years. I started again in a blink of an eye. Within a couple of days after restarting i just could not get enough Roll up's or Malborough. Absolute madness. It lasted for about 18 months. I had started to get a Wheeze in the morning so that was enough for me to stop. I couldnt say if i will ever start again or not.

How much roughly are 20 fags in France Joe? I was in Hamburg recently, shocked to see 20 Red Marlboro for under 5 Euros Might have even been under 4, dunno though in between U-boats and Deutche beer my memory got a bit foggy...

I've just quit after 15 years, partly enforced by breaking my arm just before Christmas, when I was told that smoking is the single worst thing you can do to prevent bones healing quickly. That's helped slightly, but I bought an electronic cigarette, which has been a godsend. Will I never have another cigarette, doubt it, but it will be interesting to see if I can get past the month mark, which is the longest I have ever managed before. Good luck to everyone

For me, again its the habits that die hardest - after my dinner is probably when I want a smoke the most. My sister-in-law said the same. She got the free stop smoking kit from the NHS, and is now using patches and the occasional E-lite.

but I bought an electronic cigarette, which has been a godsend.
I first bought one ages ago, when Brewster first mentioned them, but my local stockist is useless and didn't know what strengths they were selling, etc. I've since looked into them further via online shops, bought the correct strength, etc and yes, definately a godsend I've given up previously and failed, but this feels and I'd like to think, that this is my time to give them up for good. Most people on here know I hammer the fags and I do miss the fags, but I already feel better for stopping

Focus on all the negatives:
The cost - blimey, they really are expensive!! More than £7 for 20!! I can't believe it. How do people afford that?
The health issues. Just about every affliction known to man is encouraged by smoking.
Think of all that black tarry gunge in your chest.
Fitness - wheezing and coughing wherever you go.
Yuck!
Good luck yous all with giving up. If you do break down on an occasion, don't just abandon the entire day and smoke like a chimney. It's just one cigarette, and you have done well apart from that, so get immediately back on track and keep going.

Shiny, you manage to go back to not smoking? Yes and no. I had one last thursday when I popped over to AutoLusso to see Marco, mainly as the stress of sitting next to my old man for two hours had taken its toll. Other than that, (and I think another 1 that day) no more. Finding it tougher than before now though!

Into day 17 for me... no cravings, nothing... using a vapour E-fag... brilliant bit of kit. Running 3 times a week and football twice takes your mind off it to !! Keep going everyone !!!!
