She's looking very sorry for herself damage goes from the front all along the side.

Bit of a long post sorry but I'd like to say that Admiral could not have been better. I've taken loads of phone calls from different divisions. I know they haven't made me an offer or anything yet but they've been really helpful arranging to recover the car. Phoning me up and arranging a hire car to be delivered tomorrow. Passing me over to their legal team to make sure we recover any other losses?

I'd also like to thank all the well wishers off here and facebook. And maybe apologise to Craig and Johnny (MABR & JBT) I spoke to both of them today and it was really nice of them to call, I appreciate it guy's, but to tell the truth I hardly remember the conversations. it's all been a bit of a daze today. The accident seems ages ago!

There was a geezer posted on here a few weeks back who'd written off his FTO. he was advised to stay off work that day and get his head together. (I don't think he did lol) but it was good advice. Mine was just a low speed shunt but it doesn't half knock you for six!

Chris - sorry to hear of the mishap, but at least you're OK

However, I reckon you'll now have a whole heap of trouble with the insurance companies involved (I assume you're claiming from the other driver?). Their insurance company will obviously want to pay out as little as possible, and they will (initially) offer you a pittance for your treasured Coupe

Can I suggest that you start to build TWO files of "evidence"...

1) Copies of adverts for *very* similar cars - the insurance company will simply find adverts for *roughly* similar cars and base their first offer on those. When I crunched my 20vt, their first offer was based on a Coupe for sale that (after I investigated) turned out to have no history, a shabby body and "a funny noise from the engine"

2) A list of everything you've spent on the car in recent years - this helps to build a picture of a very well cared for example

Remember, you have a right to be placed in a position no worse than your pre-accident position. This therefore means you want a Coupe with all the attributes that your current car has (had).

And you're right - the way the wing has ripped out of the sill section looks pretty awful - I'd be surprised if they don't write it off. However, it's eminently repairable, so you might want to consider buying the salvage and keeping it on the road. OK, you'll be driving a Cat-D, but YOU will know that it was only a cosmetic repair

a black day indeed. first off nobody was hurt. second, gutted for you and the world of coupes. mine got spanked whilst parked! with similar damage (excluding the all important bonnet) that car was my pride and joy. still feel empty thinking about it now that was 2 years ago. gutted for you.

Gutted as i said on FB, such a nice unmolested example in a great colour. Don't let them fob you off chris, it's gotta be worth close to 2k. Not many of them about like yours now. On the plus side, you're okay!

If it gets written off, try to buy it back (@ 10% of what your settlement will be).

I saw the pics earlier on FB but for some reason I thought they were old ones and when I never saw anything mentioned on the forum I just assumed that's what they were .

Ouch! It's always a sad sight, but if you can buy it back and fix everything just think how good it'll look rolling out of the bodyshop.

You've had that car for years and with it back on the road again, with most things sorted on it, I was looking forward to seeing you and the car back at some shows and meets this year

Sorry to see what some idiot has done. Glad you are ok.

My first ever coop had far more damage when she was in wifes work carpark. Her boss didn't see her in his 4x4 whilst reversing. He reversed into the back of her and pushed the front between two concrete bollards. Made a right mess of her. The only panels not dented or scratched were the roof and doors. She looked like new when fixed though.

My present coop is a cat c. Only means a line on the v5 if she is fixed properly. Good luck with the outcome. Don't let the insurance company rip you off as already said.

Sorry to hear that, but as above, make sure you get a good settlement. If they aren't wanting to repair it, then make sure they pay you enough for you to buy another one.

I was quite shocked myself when I opened the pics you sent me; I thought you'd fitted your new bumper after our chat the other night!

Main thing is that you are OK(ish); cars can be replaced; people can't.
