Good runner with 3 bar oil pressure and 2.5 when hot. about 130k miles on it though.

Did they give you a buy-back option?

They never mentioned a buy back option Proccy and in one of the letters they sent me it says something about them preferring not to sell damaged cars back or something.

A few people mentioned it as a solution but it would have cost *some* money to buy back and a *lot* more money and time to put right.

I've sorted some finances out and am looking around for something else now. Not a coop though but it's cheered me up a bit trawling through Auto trader. It's between two models

Well I picked up the coop replacement at weekend. A 2.2 JTS Brera in metallic grey ride, handling, looks, amazing The interior is beautiful and under the bonnet is very nice too. and it's got enough lights on not to need compact auxillary modern hipower lighting

Was quite funny when I called Admiral to add it to my insurance. The guy taking details saw that it was replacing the coop and says "Oh, what did you think of the coop then?" And he's going on about how nice they are and saying there wasn't much would catch one back in the day etc. He was a really nice guy and I was on the phone ages talking about coops.
He used to have one himself. Did his own timing belt in the garage at home - took him three days I said "flipping heck mate I wish you worked in claims" We then had a chat about how they only pay book value etc etc etc and he said "trouble is you can buy one for a thousand quid nowadays and i know they'll want a lot of work to bring them up to scratch but the insurance just look at the book value and that's it"

So........Look after your coops everybody. I'll still come on here and post drivel as usual and i'll try and make it to a coop meet sometime for a catch up

The earlier years I find the seats very high and rather uncomfy, but the latter years, I think 2009 plus the seats are muchos better! Would be keen to see how your arse getS on in them

It's an 06 model (I'm not made of money!) but my ass fits just nice. I'll have to do some pictures soon The seats are different to the ones in Kayjeys I think.

06 were the 159 seats. Didn't like them either for a sports car as you really are 'on' them rather than 'in'. But for long distance they were a lot better than the later seats - although that is just mine and Joke's opinion. She said they got better after 20k km - I still got a terrible back ache after 15 minutes in it. It took me a year to recover from a trip to Italy.

Shifty I only got my 1600 payout (and they've kept hold of 350 of that for now (my excess) So it was either 'go backwards' or invest in something a bit more modern. I'd said a few times a Brera would be my next car. Not got coop performance but it's certainly got the looks

Chris did you consider the Brera 2.4 (dare I say it) diesels? I know the don't sound as nice as the petrols but they are 5 pot and 200 or 210bhp standard depending on year you go for?

I traded my 20VT6 last June (still regretting it) for a 159 2.4 TI. Then had it remapped by Gus at Alfatune Motorsport in St Helens! to 260bhp / 440Ibs torque... it does now have coop performance :-) Just doesn't sound anywhere near as nice as he coop and is a bit heavy.

The 2.4 TI's also get Brembo 4 pot brakes and lowered suspension so handle well for a 1600KG car!

I did consider the JDT deisel...............

but only for a brief moment

I realised the deisel was a bit quicker but there's not a lot in it and I was happy with the 2.2 Petrol. You do miss the coop noise but you get used to it. The brera is quite quiet but has a bit of a growl when you give it soome

I got a letter on Friday from some guy that had bought my coop! He'd found a 2004 insurance quote in the car somewhere and just wrote to my address on the off chance, gratefull for any information on the car.

I called him and we had a good chat about the coops. His friend had bid on mine on his behalf and he was after a 20vt engine to put in his Alfa as a track day car. He was really taken by the coop though and now he knows it's history he's not sure whether to repair it if possible rather than take the engine out. The guy, Matthew is his name, owns a garage in Derbyshire so I've mentioned midlands car Servicing to him and will be sending him a copy of Johnny's last invoice so he can see what work was done on the car. Told him about the forum too so you never know he might end up on here. I'm pretty glad it's not gone straight to the scrapper
