Waiting for Friday's post: Tried the new flavour and found it was so bad I had to light up to take the taste away...

Almost 11 weeks without a fag for me - not cheated and not had one at all over the 11 weeks I'm well into the 'vaping' with electronic cigarettes and to be honest, I get such a good hit from them, I can't see that I will go back to smoking proper fags or roll ups again. Yes, I'm still getting a nicotine intake, but with no tar intake or the harmful chemicals contained in proper fags. As a person who didn't really want to give up, but felt I had to, I'm currently enjoying the stage I'm at

Fantastic - well done T!
It invites the question, though, of why everyone doesn't give up like this. I suppose it must be because many people are hooked on more than the nicotine.

Well done T, do you intend occupying my cigar lighter on the way to Spa? If so don't forget that double charger socket, we'll be bound to need sat-nav.... Oh, and i hope these e-cigs don't stink, lard

I gave up on Wednesday, so this is day 6 for me.
I went with cold turkey (although I have eaten a lot of liquorice and several bags of aniseed balls), I've even ignored the packs of patches and inhalers that my wife bought for me.
I did try the e-cigarettes last year, but for me the problem was that they weren't giving up smoking, they were just smoking something different. OK, they don't stink, they probably don't kill you, they're a little cheaper than smoking and you can smoke them indoors - but it still feels, physically and psychologically, as if you're smoking.
Dear monos, a secret truth.

78 days 10 hours and 47 mins so far... no I'm not clock watching that much it's on an app Saving £480.90 so far But today I have set myself a bit of a challenge. I have left me vaping battery low and left the charger at home. So when it runs out I'm done for the day... I'm now on Zero mg of nicotine anyway so for me it's now about breaking the vaping habit of smoking !! Keep up the good work everyone !!!

It invites the question, though, of why everyone doesn't give up like this. I suppose it must be because many people are hooked on more than the nicotine. I think a lot of people are still unaware as to how good the e cigs are, along with other factors, such as cost, as many people give up smoking to save money. Also, most people want to stop the habit and the e cig doesn't really encourage that. Well done T, do you intend occupying my cigar lighter on the way to Spa? If so don't forget that double charger socket, we'll be bound to need sat-nav.... Oh, and i hope these e-cigs don't stink, lard I intend on occupying every charging outlet you have and will be bringing a triple charger or two You may get a waft of the liquid flavour I'm using, but they don't stink, although I'm sure your personal smell will overpower it anyway I gave up on Wednesday, so this is day 6 for me.

Well done on stopping Andrew and yes, I think if you can do it cold turkey, then that's probably the best way. I gave up for my health and I feel a lot better for it, but enjoyed smoking most of my fags and my e cig near enough replicates that in a healthier way, so yes, I'm probably still physically and psychologically attached, but I'm happy with that and even if it means I'm on e cigs for the rest of my life, my chest no longer feels unhealthy or damaged from smoking real fags. 78 days 10 hours and 47 mins so far... no I'm not clock watching that much it's on an app Saving £480.90 so far But today I have set myself a bit of a challenge. Well done Nelly I'm no where near the zero mg nicotine stage yet and reckon it'll be a good while before I am, if ever, but I'm happy. 77days 8 hours and 20 minutes for me, with £1422.38 saved if I smoked proper fags.

Immense Kudos to you all, whatever method you are using. It's got to be a good thing.

After trying out a couple of other brands, with disposable cartridges, I have found I'm happy with one that's called a Titan 510 where you buy liquids to refill the cartridges. I've upgraded the Titan 510 with bigger batteries and cartridges, etc over the last few weeks, all through trial and error and wanting more from it, but am happy with the way I have it now There's loads of different types of e cigs out there, but after trying various mixes and matches I've found the combination I've happy with. It's become a new, enjoyable hobby for me now I could go into this loads, but as I know you don't smoke and that this is probably for someone else, then it may be harder to rely the information across. If the person involved doesn't smoke many or smokes occasionally, then a disposable one could work out better? The only other people on here I know that uses an e cig is Nellybear and Brewster, so not a popular 'hobby'

The ciggy habit must run really deep for some people, though. I remember years ago a friend of mine was already suffering serious health risks (thrombosis in his legs), breathing problems and on top of that was in quite serious debt problems, but when the GP across the road offered to go through the various methods at his disposal to help him give up, he refused outright. I couldn't understand it at the time, but now I see just how identified he must have been with being a smoker. What a thing to identify with Mind you, having said that - what ever happened to that Titan 510 woman we used to have on here?

I'm here and I'll be around for a while yet (hopefully) I can understand why your friend refused help to be honest. If you've smoked for a long time and smoke a lot, smoking becomes a way of life, as you build your life and some friends around it. Some people are also scared of giving up and rely on them to help them through life. To give up smoking means giving up habits, a way of life, and addiction, etc, which can be heartbreaking and scary for a lot of people and it means letting go of something you love and rely on. I think your friend was scared of letting go of something he relied on so much to get him through life, even though it was mainly fags that were shortening his life. Yes I am RK Back to the drawing board for Ms RK's next birthday present then You can still buy her the 510 Titan for afterwards

Well, 16 weeks for me now and still not had even one fag I'm still obtaining a nicotine intake from my E Cig, but I feel a lot healthier and I don't feel I'm about to take my last breath any more. I haven't really saved any money, as most of it has gone towards E Cigs, etc, but money wasn't the reason I gave up. I'm happy I've got this far though and I don't think (hope) I won't go back to smoking again. The E Cig and going this long now without a fag now, makes me even more determined not to smoke again. I hope you're still doing ok Nellybear and any others that are still not smoking

Fallen off the wagen Been back on 10-15 a day for a couple of weeks... mainly due to some really bad personal hassles (As you know T) I have a fishing trip next week and the 4th of May is my daughters birthday, so reloading my supply of liquid for the E-cig and going for it again from the 4th. I felt SO dirty asking for fags at the petrol station again... Please feel free to abuse me !!
