AH-64 Crash after a little bit of showing off to the boys, this fella suddenly realises the effects of altitude on performance.

Unbelievably, no one was injured!

Just send the bill to the US tax payer.

No injuries Sam!!

However if you mean he will be flying a desk for the rest of his short career, then yes I think you're right!

Are you watching this one Stan, I thought it may interest you being an ex rotary guy?
You can hear the rotor speed die off on the initial pull and then the arm full of collective he pulls when he realises he's run out of sky...and skill.

Yeah, I watched it Jim, shuddered and remembered how many yahoo "drivers" we had.... sick

For example, the ones who used to think it was "well cool" to fly low enough over the sea to get wave spray on the screens and have the wipers on.....that was fine until the day one of them did it in the aftermath of a storm, very high waves, peaks and troughs, and the muppet hadn't factored in the effect the trough would have on air density (according to the official accident report). He ploughed the Sea King into the sea when both engines popped.....ho-hum, oh we laughed (and then swam)!

The video is quite something, especially the way the main body seems to survive initial impact before bouncing back up into the air.

It actually reminds me of an accident a friend of a friend had. Very famous in the world of Heli stunts.

Dennis Kenyon

i think it is fair to say he got away with it.

Hammerhead turn and high altitude also cant tell what direction the wind is coming from he was always going to crash . The tail rotor broke off and he should have stayed on the ground when he hit it the first time .
