Great looking car though

Looks good from pics, but from past experience of buying cars on eBay there's always that hidden secret frown

Waiting for Ross to jump all over this one as IIRC he said the other day?!?

Looks good, obviously further enquiries will be the ultimate proof.

Re: yellow plus on ebay

Who say it's a plus?

The advertiser doesn't, so it may be a VT6 that has been converted by adding skirts, lips, red brembos, recaro interior and red cam cover!

My thoughts exactly. Without wishing to stir up an old hornet's nest about Nana-Plus's... crazy

That said, whether it's a converted VT6 or a real plus, it wouldn't bother me too much, as this is my favourite coupe look and if the car's genuine, I would love to own it.

Can the Solo Italia rebuild be confirmed/proven and does anyone know about this car?

A broom yellow plus (or plus look-alike) is hardly inconspicuous, so someone on here must know something about it.

Wasn't this an old Solo Car? I'm sure I remember it being advertised by them a year or so ago?

I presume you mean me - I am looking at it, but the whole thing stinks tbh.

The advert is very poor, there isn't enough details about the history etc and just a generally bad feel off it.

Only thing it has done, is convinced me I definately want one.

Next year is when I'll start looking properly, as I want to get my money's worth out of this one. (reads as fix all the problems before I sell it on  )

Ross

Yep, I meant your good self Ross smile

This could be a really good buy. Some folk are simply unable to market their vehicles.

The old addage applies, if interested, go and see it. Soooo many people in my experience will bombard a seller remotely with ever continually more ridiculous messages.

If I lived closer I'd have a nose for sure at this one.

Although his feedback score of 91.7% from 13 transactions equates to one bad transaction, being he mis-sold a tool box as a snap on. Problem with negative feedback, you are no longer allowed to post a comment in reply, so you only get one side of the argument rolleyes

It's had a bit of a journey the last couple of years.
Jan 2010 - bit of a shed!
It had 83k on it at this point so not done too many miles since. Went to SoloItalia via Carlt and Solo did it up and put it up for sale in:
Oct 2010 - Looking nice again.

£2850 seems fair given the amount spent on it fairly recently.

Thanks for info Ed,

So was probably OK when it left Solo Italia (I haven't done any checking to see what their reputation is like), so it all comes down to whether the current owner has cared for it or not. If so it sounds tempting, but with the disks looking rusty it may not have moved for some time.

This is a VT6 according to my parts supplier.

Very poor advert, and i would strongly suggest seeing the paintwork as most resprays make the cars look worse than before.

JBT thanks for the info,

I guess if it's got all the plus bits, it's a plus in all but name, and in fairness to the advertiser, he's not advertised it as a plus.

Thanks for the warning regarding respray. To be honest, I'd be more concerned about what it's like underneath.

Regards
Pigman

Hi willttqs,

This info is available elsewhere on the forum, but in essence, as the coupe neared the end of production Fiat added 6 speed gearbox, push button starter, Plus style alloys (8 spoke, or as I prefer 4 double spoke), 180mph speedo (which could either be silver/white or black) and a strut brace.

If what JBT says is correct, the red cam cover, red brembos, Recaro seats/red stitched interior, skirts and lips etc., were added later.

Some say that the later cars like this are more prone to the dreaded tin-worm and my own VT6 would seem to support this idea. If you're going to have a look, make sure that you have a really good look underneath.

Regards
Pigman

Dont quote me on this,.
My supplier is usually cock on,but my coupe isnt listed as an LE with them either.
Yet every other LE or plus has been spot on with there system.

An engine rebuild can be anything from head off,to a reshell.
And if you look at the sprintey on ebay with the bottom end knocking in Nottingham then it allegedly costs £90 to reshell it. laugh

Its worth the starting bid but personally i wouldnt touch it without seeing what lies beneath the respray its had.
Pictures hide a thousand lies.

glad to see its still running. Just wonder how much corrosion it had being sat in the road for god knows how long never having been moved.

I drove over to south london to take a peek at it when I had my plus. Complete shed then.

Never (ever) seen this around Medway (Rochester/Chatham) having lived there for 6 years, and commuted from there for 9. And it sort of "stands out" too! Sure there's a reason - perhaps he's new to the area.
