About 6 weeks ago I completed a Questionnaire from my vehicle insurer who specialize in cars and bikes for the enthusiasts and at the end was an entry form for a competition to write an advertising slogan for the insurer.

Had a phone call yesterday from the PR company to inform me that I was one of 2 successful winners of the slogan writting and that a cheque for A$1000 (about 400 quid) is on its way. This will more than cover my Coupe's and Croma's insurance for the next 12 months.

Have a look at their website http://www.shannons.com.au/

One has to be lucky sometimes.

I guess it was something like (to the tune of Waltzing Matilda):

Once a jolly Couper, drove past a billabong,
Trying to reach one hundred and sixteee
And he sang as he piled his car into another one
"Lucky it's Shannon's insurance for me"

No?

or (same tune)

My mate Possum, drove a Fiat Turbo
Really really fast down the highway, don't you know
But he stopped when he crashed into a bloody big kangeroo
But lucky for him he was insured with Shannons Co

Don't start otherwise I'll remix it featuring MC Skirts and DJ Off

Can't quite remember what the slogan was, but it was about being able to talk to real people who understand that not all vehicles are the same.

How often do we get onto call centres where one has to go through the menu and when one finally gets to a real person, they have no idea about anything other than the mainstream type of vehicle. This does not happen a Shannons. I've even had them ask me questions about older Fiats and where they can buy one or about a minor mechanical problem.
