hi all have ordered a chip from grahaml today but after reading posts on here tonight am not sure if i should fit it or not, my car on 115000 miles white smoke in morning from exhaust but nothing when on boost or when warm, has a nigalling idle issue that i cant track down at the moment, oil pressure 3 bar cold idle, 3 bar when driving, 1.8 bar hot idle, is this thing gonna kill my turbo? my clutch? my engine? do i need an uprated ebv, or a prv, or both? have been advised by graham to get fuelling checked on rr, my nearest 45 min drive away, can i fit it then drive there or should i fit in their car park just before the session, any advice would be appreciated

Up to you. I reckon 80-90% of people do not check the fuelling after fitting an aftermarket chip. If it was me, I'd probably fit the chip (and a boost gauge as a must) leave the standard Pierburg Boost valve in place, and see how it behaves. It's probably 50/50 that it'll either handle the boost or start to stick or see-saw boost. In which case it's time to fit a manual boost controller.
It really is a good idea to get the fuelling checked out though when funds/time allow.

Coopless!

thanks am looking into boost gauge at the mo, will fit one first, grahaml did say even checking the plugs shortly after fitment would give an indication of fueling (as i understand it sooty to rich an white to lean) so will check rr prices etc have spent a lot of time on the basics in last year brakes, bushes, rad, sorting oil leaks, servicing, wishbones, exhaust, next on the list overhaul the rear arms so wanna put something fun in the mix

My car came with a Gtech 1 chip already installed. It went like a rocket! Unfortunately the cars gone now but I do have a couple of boost gauges and an Armval PRV manual boost controller in the garage so if your needing anything just give me a shout.

These are a generic chip based on the vehicle and all its variable parameters at that time.
Personally i wouldnt recommend these.Talk to Flea and get him to do a map specific to your vehicle and the changes it has.
