Does anyone have feedback on the above? I swung by the VW garage on my way home yesterday just to see what they had going for used cars. I had a look at a few pre owned GTi's and a Sciroco R but the guy then took me outside to show me a Golf R he'd just got in.
It was a blue Golf R on a 2012 plate with 9000km on the clock, his problem is that he can't shift 2 door Golfs over here, everyone wants a 4 door, I'd much prefer the 2 door as it looks so much better so I think I can come to a good deal with him.
It has the full spec with DSG box, leather, navigation, the whole package and 4 years warranty.

It looks stunning and I'm quite tempted but I'm one of those that likes to do a lot of research before I spend money, what do peeps think of these latest line of Golfs?

The clues in the name
Nice cars but overpriced (I'm not sure on Dubai prices) and very expensive for a golf IMO. I dont know much about the R but I would rather have a slighly older TT RS if I was looking for an expensive small car.

See my sig. That's a GT DSG. The gearbox is brilliant, and the interior is very similar to your photo above. Quick enough, not bad on fuel, great seats. I think its a great car, and very well built.

I ruled out R because I think they are a bit hard for daily driving, because I don't like the bodykit on Scirocco R, and because VW charge a fortune for them. You see Golf R's at £40k! For a Golf!

£40K!!! It's less than half that price, ok so it's 4 months old but even so even a brand new one is AED160,000 which works out to roughly £27,500.
Why so much in the UK, the the golf and the slightly cheaper scirocco are around that £27k price?

At £18k-ish I'd say get stuck in. The cheapest less than 1-year-old Golf R in VW's UK stock is £28.5k. The cheapest DSG is £30k. Super expensive.

On mine my biggest criticism is probably the suspension. Its not that it's bad, its that they felt the need to have one of those magnet-based systems to make it adjustable. The money would be better spent on really good components. But it is a nice toy!

My brother has a Golf GT DSG, and its a fine car. However, the interior is black. And more black. With added black. Superbly competent, but dull. I imagine the R is much better at that.

Thanks for the feedback Mansilla, the garage is going to clean it up so I'll have another look on Sunday.
