Proccy booked my son and I for a paint correction session on his 'leccy Blue Plus - my son decided a weekend in Wales with his girlfriend was more appealing, so I got to do a 7.5 hour polish & wax all on my own....

After a good wash with snowfoam and a rinse down, I clayed the whole car to remove the worst of the contaminants. Despite having a respray in the last couple of years, there was a lot of muck in the paint - I've destroyed a brand new clay bar shocked

After another wash down, it was time to roll the car inside and see what the paint is like under fluorescent lights.

The entire car was affected by very light swirl marks caused by washing (second piccy below shows them very well), but there were a few deeper scratches:-

click to enlarge click to enlarge click to enlarge click to enlarge

just over four hours with the DA polisher and another 1.5 hours with AutoGlym HD Wax and the difference was plain to see

Gratuitous reflection shot....

Should be much easier to clean now - quick wash & dry followed by a detailer spray - job done smile - Hopefully it'll stay this way until Spa....

No, but I wished I had, as it might have saved my clay bar

However, I did use AG Intensive Tar Remover on some of the worse bits

Live & learn...

not used ironX before - is that as the lube for the clay or to apply it before the clay?

Have to say a BIG thank you to Nigel, it's actually much better in the flesh than in the pictures. Although it didn't look at first glance like it needed much doing, it was much worse than it appeared, but now she's all sparkly and sexy again cool

If anybody has shabby/dull/crap paintwork this is the service to employ - well worth the money and when i have some more the yellow one i own will be having Nigel's tender touch too love

Cheers Nigel, very much appreciated bow

Thankyou smile It was a pleasure to do this car - it was my first Electric Blue and one that I've always wanted to do - the colour seems to respond extremely well to a good polish - the metallic effect is really noticeable now and the whole car seems to be a shade 'richer'

I'd love to do a Vinci LE - I know from experience that this colour looks truly stunning when shiny.

That's nice Steve as a rub down with an oily rag is normally enough to buff you up. thumb

I really wanted to do this car - but I realised that spending 4 days in a blowy tent on the welsh coast was better... obviously rolleyes

From the pictures, this was as much of a challenge as any of the cars either myself or Dad have ever done...

Here's another example; a picture of an Alfa brera I did for a nice woman from the Alfa forum:

That was after a very similar treatment - winter proof! driving

Let's keep the promotions on your Dad's behalf to the Motormech section please Matt.

Coupe chat is not the place.

We must all do our part for the planet.
I unplugged a row of electric cars that nobody was using.

Neither is the Motormech section - Proccy's paint correction was nothing to do with Motormech, other than the fact that I used one of Paul's three workshops

Please keep Neil Willies Insurance posts to that traders section rather than the insurance section then?

Joe or JBT aren't advertising in general maintaince or tuning.

Ultimately it is for the moderators and admin to decide which posts should appear where.

The Neil Willies post is of direct relevance to participants in the Spa trip thus it remains where it is.

Coupe chat is NOT the place to advertise any business.

Why is Nigel allowed to promote his business in coupe chat?

Double standards rolleyes

Too many 'rules' on this forum wobble

Maybe it should be in the 'Styling' section!? crazy

Who cares.

What polisher & polish are you using, Nigel?

He's not a paid up Trader. Plus, as Pete nicely pointed out, this is the decision of the Admin and Moderators, who act in the best interests of the club, which members are part of.

So there!
