Yes Johnny, great multiplayer Game. Used to play it on PC over a dial-up modem with my a good mate who is sadly no longer with us. This was Mid 1990s before broadband. You dialed their phone from game and they answered from game. Worked really well apart from no one could phone you for hours My mate Paul could never beat me, but one mega long game he really did have me surrounded and beat all ends up and was on course for his first victory. So as a last resort I sneaked Tanya right round ouside of Map and couldn't believe he had left only a couple of guards at his base. He was so engrossed in destroying my base and finaly beating me, he never noticed his base was being destroyed by a Solitary Tanya. I couldn't stop laughing after the game when he called me afterwards "ow the f-in ell did you win that you @##tard. He refused to play me again. Still makes me laugh Happy Days eh

I loved playing Duke Nuke'em 3D linked on serial. I wouldn't actually call it retro gaming though. That's just 13 years ago. Retro gaming = asteroids. My favourite was moon lander. Have to add though - didn't get our first computer until around 1998 when I bought a monster Pentium 133 with 128 MB of RAM and a Miro DC30 video editing card with a gigantic RAID-0 2 x 20GB stripe set - that was in times when regular harddrives were 1 GB or so. Crazy stuff.

Crazy stuff. Pfffft How about an Amstrad PC1512 with No HDD and a single 5 1/4" FDD that ran dos and word Then a few years later my first 'proper' PC was a stonking 486 DX (yes with the built in maths co-processor), a massive 4mb ram and gigantic 40Mb HDD. Beat that fatboy As for retro gaming, my first favourite home game was gorf on the Vic-20, that had 3.5k ram until i added a 16 k expansion pack! The spectrum 48k with rubber keys was a beast by comparison, jetpac, jetset will, manic miner, blimey what a blast!

Happy Days eh Where was his base defence? The old telsa coils would have sorted out the tanya Whats your opinion on the new versions of the game? I think they have ruined it by going too futuristic with too much bad actors playing out movie story lines.

I'm playing RA:3 again at the moment, it's great fun but very short ! Each campaign is only about 5 maps.
I've never really like the Tiberium Sun games, apart from the first C+C game. That was just epic, but then they started introducing, as you say, daft futuristic units like hover tanks, and walkers etc.
Generals was a welcome and original boost to the series and i'm looking forward to the sequel which should be out pretty soon.

Also there it nothing more pissing off than having to do a non-base building level. luckily RA:3 doesnt seem to have any of those, but i remember them being all over the place in the earlier games.

Did anyone else have the 3DO like me? I've not seen it on any of your lists... it was ahead of its time (well thats what I thought at the time). Some classic titles been mentioned which has brought back some very fond memories. It wasn't that long ago, me and the mates all got together for a retro game night (about 4 years ago) where we got the SNES, N64 and PS1 out for a blast, Needless to say the night revolved around Goldeneye and Perfect Dark.
