Recently I have been feeling increasingly 'world weary'. A general feeling that I basically cant be bothered with people.
I have noticed, and i'm sure others have, that I've become more and more recluse, and at work i rarely will take part in conversations in my office. I work with 3 women in the same office and the other men are the directors, as their offices connect to ours. One director is a genuinely nice guy but not someone to 'chat' with and the other is just an idiot.
Recent conversations between the women have been "how great a film Avatar is!" "fake tan", "The voice", and other epic conversations.
Is there a 'cure' for world weariness? Preferably free?

-Go on Holiday (not free) -Have lots of intersting and unusual sex (possibly free) -get a new job (free) -take up a dangerous hobby (possibly free) -emigrate (not free) -Shoot yourself (not free) Become a mugger and rapist in Texas and you can do the whole lot in one hit, without even needing to do the last job yourself.
Dear monos, a secret truth.

Is there a 'cure' for world weariness? Preferably free? Change your job, if you are weary in your 20s it will only get worse. You are young, find something you enjoy and try that. Don't get like me and Turbo Verde and wish we had done what we really wanted when we had the opportunity. Your whole life is in fornt of you and now is the time to ensure you don't have regrets later.

At a guess, I'd say you are depressed - but wait, don't dismiss me.
In my opinion it is fully appropriate to be depressed in particular life circumstances. There is plenty to be depressed about. Anyone in those situations who says he is happy is probably fooling himself. Depression is a rational response to crap situations.
The upside is that all you need to do is work out which bits are depressing you, and then redesign your life to exclude them.

Thought so. Every problem is an opportunity ((( ))) I know it's a cliché, but there is truth in it. Your awareness of areas of your life that depress you can be used to your advantage.

I have deceided to set myself some "Mid-Year resolutions". After going down to Bournemouth this past weekend to see off a mate who is emigrating to Australia, I now cannot afford to go out at all until I have moved into my new house.
So Dan's BBQ will be my next social gathering.
I have decided to take this opportunity for a little reflection and self-improvement. I have noticed that I am still basing personal achievements and goals around what others have done, rather than myself.
I will update this thread again once I have decided upon my goals/resolutions etc and the manner i am going to go about them.

Perhaps this state of mind has something to do with the imminent possession of your new home? You sound like you have been a free spirit so far and possibly the realisation at the back of your mind is that owning a property carries more shackles. Use your mates to help you get through it and when you do move in things may change as you get involved in furnishing/decorating. Change of location = one of life's big catalysts Or alternatively start a thread about pole dancing

I dunno. I guess it is one of the biggest changes in my life so far, but i'm more anxious for it too happen sooner rather than later.
I'll be £400 better off each month after the move (or there abouts) so the sooner it happens, the better. However becuase of this, perhaps i have put alot of expectations on it.
I.e once i move i'll be able to pay down debts, be more sociable, be financially 'comfortable' rather than budgeting every penny. I wont be in such a 'shoebox' apartment etc etc.
Hmm, this could be it. I do feel (and i suppose i have set myself up) that this move will be the start of a whole new life for me, and it's still all up in the air at the moment (i'm still waiting to exchange contracts because of incompetent local authority).

Don't underestimate the effect the house business has, it's a big commitment. My daughter and b/f have done exactly this a] to get on the ladder b] to save outgoings + other reasons like antisocial neighbours in adjoining property. They used a financial adviser [I was unsure about this] but was just as well as Halifax made a complete 4rse of the background check which stopped their move actually on the day Their guy was also furious, they had to store furniture, put cat in cattery, pay for alternative accomm etc etc, and they got it all back through claiming Just be patient with the twits in charge, no point getting a heart attack, it'll be yours soon, all yours....

If you are serious about how you feel, I think it's time to step back from the forum for a while.(no offence to the forum by the way) You do tend to live your life out on here. I've no idea about your immediate family/friends, perhaps concentrating on the issues at hand & put your thoughts into a plan of action. For example collecting packaging that you may need etc. There are lots you can do.
Now as I said I've no idea if you're serious or not. Just my observation on things.

Don't worry Jimboy, it's not that bad! The term World Weiry was one my friend used to basically describe that fact that we feel bored, stressed, and single. Not World Wiery as in i want to end it all I do seem to feel alot more 'down' on Monday mornings though. You'll note that both the start of this thread and it's recap are both Monday mornings. it's not something i have experienced before but I think it has more to do with feeling like I have 'wasted' my weekend than "oh no i'm back in work". At the moment I am basically stumbling along until I can move into my new place. I don't go out much at all, and i am trying to save every penny so there are no trips just for the sake of it (for example). My plans for this weekend are just basically, food shop, laundry, sit out in sun. Anything around this (ie evenings, time when I cant sit out in the sun becuase i'm burnt or i've been out in it for 4 hours already, i will probably end up just sitting on my PC or watching TV.)

Ah, that's fair enough. The way we communicate now is both very clever & bit over the top if you know what I mean. By the time I was your age Truffle I had moved four times & never thought anything about it, but they were innocent far off days. I must say modern day living does throw up some obstacles, even allowing for my rose spectacles back in the day seemed far easier with less distractions. I've stepped back from the forum lately due to my wife & family & I probably was revealing far too much personal information. There are other points as well, but that's another story & way off topic. No doubt I'll read on here how the move went Oh...We all suffer that Monday mornig feeling...
