I have had a look through a few threads on this, but hard to figure out what is wrong exactly.

The alarm worked fine, then suddenly, the fob can't switch it off. Neither fob works. I can open the car with the key, and it won't trigger the alarm, but when I insert the key in the ignition, it trips the alarm (I switched off the siren many years ago, luckily!)

It seems others have replaced the batteries in the fobs, with no success.

I tried flipping the side switch a few times - no effect

So the alarm functions, but is unresponsive to the fob. I am moving house in a few days, and need to drive the car w/out the f***ing lights flashing!!

Any ideas?

the side switch is for the internal sensors.
Is the led on the fob lit up? try a new battery,it might be dull and no powerful enough. If its the scorpion there is a reset guide on it.

mine has had it,even with a new battery it wont respond so i have had to disconnect it all.

I remember seeing the light yesterday, but it didn't light up today.

Thanks Mike - might try the reset first. It showed no probs, then suddenly didn't work - I am wondering whether my 2 1/2 yr old son didn't do something to it. He is fascinated by keys....

Well, I tried the reset (haven't had time to go get a new battery) but it hasn't worked. The alarm still stops when the door is locked with the key, but unresponsive to anything else. I guess that may well be the battery?
