What comes after 2 litre? Is it straight to 2.4 or is there an in between option? If so what are the parts and costs involved? Just weighing up my options

Why do you want to increase cc ? You can get over 500bhp on the 2ltr with the right mods.

Have a chat with Barbz and JBT let them explain the benefits of the 2.4 and 2.5, the torque is awesome on both cars. The difference between a 500+ bhp and a 2.5 500+ bhp Coupe is night and day.

500 Bhp between the two is night and day.
More power at less boost.usable TERROR.
More stronger duration of power with more torque drivability and economy . The 2.4 is yet still to reach its full potential.
Big things in the pipeline so watch this space.

Have you got a rough price difference between building a 500 bhp 2ltr and 2.4ltr John ?

Ive drove a 450 bhp focus rs500 and it was incredible! I know enough about engine building to know that every inch counts! (cubic inch that is)

Have you got a rough price difference between building a 500 bhp 2ltr and 2.4ltr John ? The 2.4/5 is more due to the donor engine and the modifications required to the block. The 2.0 is great for scaring passengers especially Biggenz's coupe and on song around a track there's not much between them however your on the power sooner and for longer which always makes for a faster car. Ontop of that the power is much more linear and tractable with less dramas. How this engine performs against other super cars both in the 2.0 and 2.4 is staggering .

Do you think once the 2.4/5 has been perfected the next step has to be a more simplistic 4wd set up?

The setups perfect now. But we're constantly pushing the 2.0 and the 2.4 into different setups.
Just doing a few r and d mods to see what it's really capable of.
No need for 4wd as it puts all the power down fine.

Just to add the there is no need for 4wd as the car handles a grips perfectly as shown on the track spa, Mallory, donnington etc... Evo's cossies etc didn't have any more grip in my eyes.

And the cost of going 4wd out weights the little gains and if any thing does break its one off so down time will be longer than off the shelf parts.
What kind of transmission losses would you have on a 4wd coupe????

Your addressing an issue we don't have. These launch well, and on a stock box . Cossie boxes ain't cheap.
The coupe will break the tens on the 1/4.

John is right, you do have a broader power band on the 2.4/2.5. I wanted to stay with the 2litre as you can run more boost and mine makes power past the redline where as the power starts dropping off on the 2.4/2.5.
As the man said. Pure TERROR.

Oh I don't know, the 2 litre still has some pretty sharp teeth! You would be surprised John with Mick's car, the boost profile/spool and torque is almost identical to yours with the same turbo! It is also the most tractable high power Coupe I have tuned, the power out of corners awesome. Of course, there is no denying that greater displacement is always an advantage, more so if you start with big CCs. Off boost is where you feel it most often, but a well tuned 2 litre car is still very, very driveable with plenty of torque to be going on with.
As with all tuning it eventually comes down to budget, if you have to "create" the extra CCs then you have to be prepared to pay a premium.

I agree, 2.0 has great potential also, as shown with our engine platforms in Angelo's 520hp and Biggenz 563hp Coupe's.
Note, Headwork is a must at this level.

As with all tuning it eventually comes down to budget, if you have to "create" the extra CCs then you have to be prepared to pay a premium. 2.4/2.5 is 25% approx more than a well specc'd 2L. From the feedback we recieved from Flea after mapping JBT's 2.5L, was sheer Terror! Not recommended for the faint hearted!

So Micks car got 500ibs/ft torque on a 2.0? The power Micks car got wasn't brilliant given the setup. Also a 10bhp gain from a bigger A/R would suggest theres underlined problems that have been mapped around . But saying its the ''best coupe'' you have mapped is repetitive to convince the customer to settle for less than its capabilities.
Surely if my cars the same as a 2 litre despite having 25% more displacement then wouldn't that suggest theres a serious issue with the mapping?

No Nick I'm making a valid point based on the mappers comments. The variants between the two platforms shouldn't be compared in such a way. If they are the same then surely theres an underlined issue.
Displacement has always been the tuners choice for a reason and the comments above aren't applicable as such on a 25% increased engine.

Read what I actually said John. It neither changes or takes anything away from any other car, 2.4 or otherwise?? You know what I think of your car, as do the many, many people I have spoken to, indeed it is well documented on here too. Mick's car is remarkable (and the best yet) in terms of a 2 litre spooling up such a big turbo (not without issues I might add, which again will be documented on here), and it is very, very tractable. Nothing more, nothing less...

I read what you put. If Micks car gets 500bhp Ish at 2 bar which he can't use on the road (only on the dyno)yet both the 2.4's make 500 Bhp at 1.3 bar then how can you compare the results? Also even at 1.8 bar in the 2.4 it gets the power down fine. I have problems with the comparisons as there false.
No forum individual has fitted a more varied choice of engines to there own car than me in the last few years. There is no comparison between my setups, all were very different . My last 2 litre was identical to Micks and was so good that even you purchased the turbo due to the results.the first coupe to try the gtx and precision turbo. That same setup is now in 2.5 form with very different results.
I'm the one working until early hours with oily overalls trying different choices at my expense despite your negativity and at every point on here and behind closed doors you undermine the results.
