I need some help, My brother has found a car that he wants, He is working in Italy,

The plan was for me to collect the car for him from Cornwall moday after he had transferred the money today,

He is with Lloyds TSB, He has sent small transfers to the UK before now, However today he tried to send £2000 and it requires a 4 digit pin, One of which he cant remember ever having, Nor where on earth it is??

He called his bank and a lady said that he cannot do the transfer without the pin number...

My question is - Surely there are ways around this? what if your house burned down, and were oversaes and urgently needed to send money? It cant be the only secure way can it??

The guy has a line up of potential buyers and WILL sell if I dont get the car!

Help?

I use LloydsTSB both for my personal banking and the clubs affairs.

The personal bank on line log on calls a password and for 4 alpha numeric characters of a memorable piece of information which the account holder has chosen.

This must be the PIN he is refering to.

The logging into a business account uses a password then a debit card with a normal PIN and card reader.

I unplugged a row of electric cars that nobody was using.
I even unplugged my own.

I dont think Pete has the right PIN.

Very recently, Lloyds have introduced a new PIN security measure, but you have to ring them up for them to send you it! and from the looks of things you cant change it either. It's specifically for telephone banking.

Oddly, though when i talked on the phone with them they were quite happy for me to answer various security questions whilst i wated for my PIN to arrive in the post.

Phonebank gude here

Call 0845 3 000 000 whenever you need to manage your money.
Speak or key in your account number, sort code and two digits from your Security Number.

Then just follow the options given. For example, choose Option 1 to listen to your recent transactions or Option 2 to make transfers and payments.

If you don't have a Security Number, register today.

Is he not doing this on-line? Or is it an automated phone service?

Is there any way he could send you the money and you pay. I'm just thinking that maybe if someone is set up on a his account previously then the pin may not be needed?

I don't do telephone banking, just online or in branch.

When I've gone to make a new payment or pay a new recipient from my Lloyds TSB account before it has asked me to verify it by entering a number. The bank made an automated phone call to the default phone number on my account and told me a four digit number. I then had to enter this four digit number online to complete the payment. Is that what is occurring here?

When I send a new payment with Lloyds TSB, they send a code to my mobile which I then enter online for it to go through.

Has he registered his mobile with them? The first time you do it it takes a while, so no good if you need to do it quickly.

Is it anything sporty then?

Good result (although it's Japanese frown )

This Nat West balls-up is a complete nightmare - I've paid a couple of Nat West cheques into my bank account (Barclays) and they haven't shown up yet........
