Hi folks - I'm just getting Charlie started on the Pi I got. I have Debian Squeeze - what are some of the things he could do that might fire his imagination and get him interested?

I think openelec can run on Pi so you/he could set up a media computer.

It depends on his tastes. He might like custard, I prefer double cream laugh

Presumably it would actually be 'ic cram' due to the type of 'pi' it is.

XBMC apparently runs nice on the pi, I've used it before in Linux and its pretty polished, great media interface.
I've been using Mythtv for years now though as I need the tv support for the family smile

Also run zoneminder (security CCTV software) from time to time on my house, it's just a server with a webcam that captures motion or records specific events, good for time lapse etc. Seems to work on the Pi too I think ?

Well, if the idea is to code...

Code:
sudo apt-get install build-essential

Which will set up a development environment...

I fancy making a Pong with mine when it eventually arrives, only about 2 weeks to wait now.

Heh. Even more retro - I just built to first test a retro 6502 single board computer... seven segment LEDs, little poky switches, machine code, the lot! Tomorrow I will power it and see if the smoke gets out.
